I loved him. And there’s feelings remaining. But it’s been a while, I don’t want to give the first step after a while and then leave him with the feeling of talking to me just cause my birthday is a day after his. So, I don’t.

If youre one of those exs that just cant let go, then definitely dont. I dont know your situation though.
Send him a card, a friendly card, not romantic. That way you don’t put him on the spot. But hold on to your heart carefully, lest he not reply, or lest he reply with something like the name of his new girlfriend.
Over the years, I have been in your situation many times. It does hurt, but time can heal. I feel for you going through this. It hurts a lot when the one person you want to be with and talk to is off limits. I’m so sorry.
