i just sort of need a reminder that i’m not alone in my suffering, so if people can tell me their stories or link me to some good depressing music that would be very kind of you please and thanks
Ok, I never thought I would do this, because it seems so absurd, and this music may end up making you laugh or puke, but maybe look up songs by Red Sovine. He was a 70’s country singer, totally cheesy and goofy, but good lord, absolutely some of the most depressing lyrics ever. He wrote a lot of songs about truck driving, and “Teddy Bear” would be a good depressing place to start. Ugh.
I’ll have to check it out, Chip. I thought Simon & Garfunkel and Joni Mitchell would do it for some. I’ll definitely lose people here and there because of my eclectic tastes.
Hey, Who!
I read your previous post but then i didn’t know how to respond. I still don’t know but I’ll try. First, you’re not a piece of shit. You’re just in a shitty environment which has covered you with its dirt so de only thing you see on the surface is of course shit. You, as a person, are underneath this. I know this sounds like bullshit but, believe me, you’re not worse than any other human being on this fucked up planet. We’re all a part of the problem and yet we cannot be judged responsible for it.
Some good music: Archive-You all look the same to me-> it’s an album, hope you like it.
Take care, mate and make yourself a cup of tea for me c:
If it doesn’t work, do you know Nirvana? If not, you should look up “Heart Shaped Box” “Come As You Are” and “You Know You’re Right”. They’re depressing songs that always make me feel better. 🙂

Whoops, that question mark was meant to be a smiley face. I copied a moderated comment I made with a link in it and I guess the smiley face can’t be copied…
Hi ^-^
Lately I’ve been listening to Placebo’s “The Bitter End” and “Running up that hill” a lot…by a lot i mean on repeat all day long…nothing quite like it
…also Tanita Tikaram, especially “twist in my sobreity” is good sometimes, RagnBoneMan “disfigured” and Poets of the Fall, “where do we draw the line”
Take care <3 we are here for you.

. . . I often told myself his songs would be excellent suicide music.

Oh no! I got as far as “I’m crippled and I can’t walk”. Will definitely have to save that for another day. . . . Classic spoken word country, though.
Yeah, some of it is humorous too.

Love Placebo thanks for reminding me of their existence not listened to them in ages!
Who you are not alone and I could suggest many depressing albums but I will suggest you go for Smiths’ album Hatful Of Hollow
Suede’s Nude (that’s a mix of haunting, theatrical, surreal and depressing)
Portishead’s Dummy
Hey Who.
I’ve been listening to this a lot lately, found it good for both wallowing and giving some respite at the same time.

Take care who, at least here you don’t have to feel alone. Even when we all are.
Here you go. A straight up suicide song:

if the link doesn’t work just search Portishead – Gloomy Sunday on youtube.
I just checked, the link worked.
