lets be honest, anyone who doesnt conform enough to the standards set due to societies standards may as well have a mental illness.
dont learn fast enough to keep up with your class?down syndrome/IED’s
scared of things you shouldnt be scared of?phobias/anxiety
you arent happy in a shitty environment? depression
lets just call it what it is: being a fucking human with problems, and stop attaching labels to everyone that isnt perfect.
I’ve noticed for a while almost any human emotion has a matching mental illness, so ANY human being that asks for psychological support will be given a diagnosis. Here’s the characteristics and traits and correlating diagnoses in my opinion:
Shy: Social Anxiety Disorder
Poor Concentration: ADD
Hyper: ADHD
Unhappy: Depressive
Damaged: PTSD
Emotional: Mood Disorder
Self Conscious (appearance): Anorexia/BDD
Hate others: Antisocial Personality Disorder
Hate Life: Borderline Personality Disorder
Prefers own company: Avoidant Personality Disorder
Needy: Dependent Personality Disorder
etc.
I get that a diagnosis is only meant to be given when these feelings or emotions are taken to an extreme but who is to say what is not a perfectly natural response to life circumstances that its classified as a problem or a DISORDER. If someone seeks help for one of these things they’re struggling with and don’t like about themselves they’re automatically going to be labelled as mental in some way. The only true mental illnesses I believe in are scizophrenia (shows visibly in brain scans), psycopathy in murderers, and anorexia when a person isn’t eating at great deteriment to their health. And don’t accuse me of being ignorant, i’ve been processed by the system and labelled as a social phobic with BPD. I’d say I was extremely shy from never fitting in and it made me feel like life isn’t worth living.
nah, I don’t even think murderers are pyschopathic. I think they’re just evil bastards.
I do agree with you that almost everything is labelled as “abnormal” or an illness when most of it is just a natural human response to something. I don’t believe in things like kids being labeled ADHD or hyperactive disorder- that’s just called being a kid. What kid wants to sit all day locked in a classroom reading crap they don’t want to read or whatever else? Ofc the kids’ gonna have a “behaviour” problem.
Skepticism as part of a personal quest for truth, without threats of violence, is literally the definition of te rrorism! Those merely verbally accused should be violently and aggressively dealt with by the proper credentialed and qualified persons acting in accordance with Constitutional law, especially the first amendment.
