That is unfortunately true. The world rarely gives lucky breaks. In most cases, we need to make our own lucky breaks. One can use that energy and time spent on wishing for mercy or a lucky break, and try to make it ourselves. Anyway, it’s good that you know this know. Many people don’t realize this until only far later in life.
Well, it comes down to planning for the future and action. Yes, I know, it’s stuff we hear a lot, but it has some truth to it. One needs to plan for where you want to go, or for what you want to get. One needs to look for lucky breaks/opportunities. And when you find one, you need to act. Often in life we miss the rare lucky breaks that present themselves, or even worse, we see them but we don’t act on them. I guess it comes down to being proactive, rather than passively waiting for a lucky break from the “universe”.
Some show mercy, but rarely when we need it (or from whom).
Although I am no longer religious, your post reminded me of a quote from the NT,
“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” While I’m quoting out of context, and in a sense it doesn’t fit, in another it does. What you tried to share was holy, in a sense, and now you feel objectified or devalued.
Be mindful of the recipient. There are those who will listen, even if they cannot help, and those who will help, even if they do not listen. It’s difficult to find this in one person.
Hugs to you, honey, HUGS!

Make our own breaks? How would we do that?
