Thanks for sharing this :-). This guy speaks so many truths. What has happened to our society? I keep asking myself this question. Has it always been like this or do I see things differently now?
It’s completely f’d up.
Love this. Thanks for sharing. Such a good interviewer, just lets his subject express himself. And such an interesting guy. It’s tough to see his weary eyes, though. Life hasn’t been easy. But I pretty much agree on his diagnosis of modern society. Cohesion seems to be going out the window, and I blame neoliberalism.
Interesting. There sure is a scarcity mindset at play there, of life as a competitive zero-sum game.
To be frank, I don’t think capitalism is uniformly bad. I think the mindless worship of it is. Unfortunately, many people in the modern world are guilty of that. It’s like they never picked up a novel and injected some wisdom into their thinking.
It’s easier to hide behind a screen on a message board or social media instead of being around people. It’s easier to text instead of having a phone conversation. This guy is incredible. He’s right.
I’ve basically forgotten how to be a human being. I’ve forgotten how to be social. I stopped pushing myself to deal with people in person. It’s sad. I need to force myself off of social media. This is a critical time in my life where I could have a real relationship with someone who truly cares and change my entire life around. This is no time to be sharing things on Twitter with strangers I’ll never meet anyway. What’s the point of that? I’ve seen in the past how I can have a good relationship going in real life, but become too consumed with the virtual world. It’s a distraction that can destroy your life. Not worth it.
kinda the same here, I only talk to one person online, sometimes might talk to others, maybe a ‘hi’ and a very small amount of chit chat. Can’t really relate to most people anyways so whats the point and 2. I am exhausted

Or, Idk. Maybe I blame us worshipping technology.
I blame the question, “Who’s going to pay for that?” Whoever coined that question should be exiled to the moon.
