I know most of the people on this site have problems with depression.
I just wanted to share something I’ve been trying that really seems to help.
Just take a little time for yourself and act like a child. Watch cartoons, eat junk food, whatever you want.
Being an adult is stressful. Being a child and having adulthood thrust upon you at an early age can be even worse. So every once in a while, just let that inner-child loose. It isn’t a permanant fix, but maybe it can bring you just a little bit of happiness for a brief time.
Me? I just sit back and watch a couple episodes of Spongebob, or even better, Tom & Jerry.
Also, if the opportunity presents itself, hanging out with young children helps quite a lot too. For some reason, the three little kids (ages 3, 5, and, 8)Â that live next door to me seem to like me. Seeing their childish personalities and simple innocence really uplifts my spirits.
Seriously, you should try it.
Tell me what you think… or tell me I’m completely crazy… whatever.

I love talking/spending time with little kids, it’s so easy to get lost in their world. Plus they look up to you, they never judge you.
It’s a good idea if you had a decent childhood, but…
what if your inner child was even more traumatised than its adult counterpart?
Anyway, I’m gonna give it a go:
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Exactly! It’s like the rest of the world doesn’t even exist. I love it. I didn’t even realise until recently how truly therapeutic it was.
@causeway- in that case, I would say revert back to what you wish your childhood had been like.
and lol @ Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee… heh that’s a very good start.
Oh my fantasy childhood – I can do that – it was like this:

Unfortunately I never grew up to be Ulysses, except in the Joycean sense of wandering about Ireland with my hands in my pockets. 😉
Haha, never heard of that show. 😛
Don’t worry, I wanted to be a brontosaurus. lol. That obviously didn’t work out too well. XD
That’s absolutely brilliant. That’s who we all really are. We’re meant to be joyous and innocent but our upbringing squashed a lot of that…so getting back in touch with that is the way for sure. Children are pure and positive. That is what life intends for all of us!
