There would be no reason for anyone or anything to create this mess of a world. The Bible is just BS that tries to make it seem like there’s a reason for it. Does it really matter if I live another 40 years when I’m just an animal?
i often times don’t believe that there is a god, and if there is i think he might not be as nice as everyone thinks he is.
just be polite to everyone/everything and fuck everything else. if there is a god, i think he would appreciate that.
i also struggle to see the difference between people and animals. animals have more fun? i very often times wish i was a free tiger, lion, or some big beast of an animal. i know it’s a waste of my thought process, but i keeps my mind away from depression, so it’s somewhat constructive.
good luck, y praise the turbo gods because your mom isn’t making you go to church with her in eight hours.
but we are animals. we have our nests, we have to eat, we put a lot of effort into trying to reproduce. we have DNA that has adapted to our environments, and that process continues. just because we can communicate more precisely, and have higher intellectual abilities doesn’t make us something more special than just another creature.
It’s your opinion 🙁 don’t force it on others! I’m a friggin deist…people think that aethism…but no I believe in a higher being who abandoned us long ago and I don’t adhere to an religion. If god doesn’t exist oh well. If he/she does then oh well. Only things that truly matter to me are death and apples :3
I dont believe in god but i believe in a decent set of morals and doing right by your fellow man or dog or any animal.i love animals without them we would be lost indeed..
@I’m fine Animals kill each other all the time… But I digress. I agree there is no god. As to why people believe is because its safe. Its a very powerful comfort to believe there is an omnipotent all powerful being and that he is on your side if you’re a good person. I really wish I was delusional and religious as I truly think that when not in the hands of assholes religion can be a good thing. I just have this pesky logic getting in the way.
@I’m fine not to thread jack and expand on a tangent but primates have murdered each other. They have no reason to do that its not necessary to live it just happens. Not all animals kill for food some kill for its own sake. We know about pack animals fighting each other to be the alpha sometimes the loser dies. I say the fact that we needlessly murder each other is evidence we are just animals in clothes because a lot of our worst behavior is present in the animal kingdom. Its difficult to tell if the animal on animal murders are “fun” but they are unnecessary
The world is what it is because of us. Whatever evil there is is the fallout of our actions. I believe in God, and i believe we abandoned him, not the other way around.
For the record, creation by scientific definition must have a creator/s. there is nomescaping this. whether off course they are interventionist is an entirely other debate….
In other words, if I find a watch on the street, I must through deduction make the rationale assumption, that someone reasonably smarter then me made that watch. I don’t know who and I don’t know how, but the watch is there.
So too this metaphor can be described by our entire universe. I don’t know who and I don’t know how, but it is there…..and someone far far smarter then me made it.
@kno1 – I was just trying to say that I feel that we’re less than animals – that they, in general, are not less than us as seems to be the opinion of so many. I wasn’t trying to start a debate or anything. Just made a statement of my opinion. Nothing more. I’m sorry. I wish I hadn’t said anything at all now. Sorry to everyone for the diversion.
@adastra who sez someONE made the world i thought it started whith a huge planet or star exploding and the conditions were right for animals and plant and such like to evolve-evolution is my belief we all started as bugs in a pond yadda yaddayadda as for the watch -theres always gunna be someone smarter than you i have lights and micrwave ovens and a computer….i have NO idea how they work but they do doesnt mean there is a god though:-)no one could convince me otherwise…so im with you otherside….
Humans have the greater capacity to help improve lives be it our own, others and all creatures great and small.
Animals do not have this capacity. When was the last time you heard of an animal making a dam or man made lake so animals can get water because nature left untouched wasn’t able to supply it?
Humans also develop vaccines for diseases that plague both humankind and other species.
Humans have a far greater capacity for good. Are they all using it? Off course not. There is ample room for improvement that’s for sure.
My watch analogy/metaphor is to make a point. That ‘someone’ made the watch. We know this because it is there even though we don’t know how or even why figuratively speaking.
Same can be said for the entire universe. Humans literally know nothing about it. Yet it is there. Look up at the night sky. It is there but we don’t know who made it or why.
This implies a creator.
I’ve never known an ‘explosion’ to create a sophisticated intelligent universe. If an explosion can’t be used to create a watch how can it be deferred to in making a universe?
@adastra beavers make dams to provide water and trap food (((rasberry blown your way))))):-)we dont need to know how everything came to be it just is sooner or later there will be something catastropic ie a meteor and stupid nuke going off global warming and maybe when we are gone something else will climb outta the pond (probably a damn cockroach lol)
Yes..Humans have greater capacity for good..but at the same time they have far greater capacity for evil.. The amount of different methods of torture already tell a grim tale..
@I’m fine sorry I didn’t mean to be such an ass I apologize I guess my whole thing was to say that morally humanity is on the same level as animals are. Which considering how much more advanced the human brain is compared to the rest of the known creatures on the planet is is startling. Like we can put a man in space but we still hate others for being different. Its pretty sad.
@kno1. My fault. I’m being overly sensitive (as usual). I’m sorry.
I think we’re lower than animals morally because animals have no concept of right and wrong (as regards to morals) and we do. If an animal does wrong, it doesn’t doing it knowing that it’s the wrong thing – we do and sometimes we (humans that is) do it BECAUSE it’s wrong (morally). Basically we’re worse because we have a choice and we CHOOSE evil (sometimes). I don’t think I’m putting it right but does any of that make sense?

now, i’m going to go have a cigarette.

We are less than animals. Animals don’t need a set of rules to tell them not to go around murdering each other for fun.

I like animals. They accept me as one of their own 🙂

@kno1 – which is why I specified ‘for fun’. There’s usually a perfectly understandable reason why an animal would kill another.

I’m just replying to the original post mollymeister 🙂
Ps, I know nothing off beavers And their nests so no comment.
Heh heh!!

If there were a god, he wouldn’t let us suffer. Even though I don’t believe, I still pray every night to die the next day
I think there is some room for a higher power of some sort just not the Abrahamic one that people are riled up about.

That does make sense and I understand your point more.
