It is almost impossible to see from the inside wether it is time to go to a mental or psychiatric hospital (pardon me if the terms mental hospital and the like is slightly different from country to country).
I know that even though I had major problems and even though I was very keen on suicide, then I kept on thinking that I wasn’t all that crazy – crazy enough so that I should go to hospital. But a psychiatric hospital is often far from what has been shown on movies with all kinds of lunatics and nobody rather sane. And One doesn’t have to be insane for it to be an idea to go to a mental hospital. But when cutting, serious eating disorders, and especially suidial tendencies becomes “normal”, then it is time to make an external check up on ones condition.
I have a few SCEENING TESTs that can help list up som objective facts. Facts that again can tell something about One’s real condition, and not just One’s percieved condition. I have been exposed to Goldber’s & Beck’s tests myself, but the other tests should be valid too. What is VERY IMPORTANT is that those tests are NOT CONCLUSIVE so One should be a little careful reading them. However if they call for One to see a doctor (and a doctor is who can make a real diagnose – One cannot do so oneself). Then it is really time to go see a doctor. Should anyone like to know how One can approach a doctor then please let me kow, because one such seemingly easy act can be extraordinary hard.

At a psychiatric hospital they are able to give some intense care getting One’s daily rutines in order and, perhaps most important, give some kind medical treatment that works out (such treatment takes time to get set right but it is much more easy to get it in order at a hospital where One can be monitored on daily basis rather than on weekly for instance (it is not like they watch One all the time, there’s plenty of privacy to have, but it is that they can check up on progess much easier and make appropriate adjustments.
P.S. when I write this I am actually at hospital, and I am perfectly sane. But I had to have help from other people to actually getting here.
And really: there is help to get here.

I’ll just add this list of some famous people who has suffered great from mental illness.

Including is ABRAHAM LINCOLN and ERNEST HEMMINGWAY who at times suffered from SUICIDAL DEPRESSIONS. Is that a mental illness? Sure is because one cannot, at those times, keep up with the world in hardly any way; but at other times one is pretty healthy when things are just sorted out.
Some people think they’re a failure if they go to hospital…
I don’t think so, and I think it is often because of prejudice.
So at anytime I’d say: ‘they don’t know what it is!’, ‘Screw them’, or ‘I have to swallow my pride and move on’.
And then I’ll ask: Pride or life – what is worth the most?
(I don’t expect any of this to be easy, but reasoning about it makes it possible to force the right choices on).
