So my best friend told me i’m to negative and that my life would be better if i would just look on the bright side and stop putting myself down. So i looked on google and found a list of things to say to myself while looking in the mirror
I am beautiful.
I love myself.
I’m smart strong independent women
thats all i found.
but um I’m sitting in front of my mirror but i can’t say these things to myself. I either laugh my butt off or look away. Idk why. i guess i will have to look at my ugly face in this mirror til i say something positive out loud.
So does anyone else do stuff to try and stay positive? If so what do you do? Does anyone know any other phrases i can say to myself?

I’m not good at that stuff either. Don’t really believe in it either. While I agree that thinking negative thoughts all the time can’t be good, forcing yourself to say positive things doesn’t really work unless you believe it. Anyone can look in the mirror and say it or think it. But if you don’t really believe it, what’s the point? You can stare in the mirror and tell yourself that your skin is purple or that you’re 8 feet tall too, but that doesn’t make it true. I have to start small. I can’t jump right into the “you’re an awesome person!” type of stuff. But I do try to ask myself, are you really a bad person? Do you ever purposely make decisions to hurt or harm anyone else? Do you want anything else in life but for yourself and everyone around you to be happy? Do you do your best to be a decent person? If you can at least answer yes to those things, it’s a start.
My old flatmate writ on her mirror”I aprove of myself” another wrote “I won’t let the weather control my life”she was in a wheelchair…we all need to hear different things I would write on my mirror”I am strong dependable and I care about others” maybe it’s not all about me but how I can help others that gets me through the tough spots.just sayin..
Positive self talk doesn’t work if you are very much in the place most of us find ourselves if we have reached this site. I think it can play a role, but not when someone is on the brink of or has tried to kill themselves. Seeing anything but black in that stage is an impossibility.
If it does work for you, give it a shot though. Everything is worth trying I have now realised before the final decision is taken and acted upon.
You can check out my blog…there’s lots of posts that give suggestions. The key ingredient is ‘choice’ …you have to decide you want to feel good! Everything stems from feeling good, cause when you feel good, everything is good. So choose to feel good. angelicflight.wordpress.com
