I have a recurring dream in the morning, just before I wake up. I dream getting my head severed from my neck right in my own bed. There is no blood, just my head cut away. Sometimes I can see it (in third person) dropping in a wicker basket just near my bed. I dream it almost every morning now.

Your dream means castration, (symbolically),as severing limbs, head, hands, feet etc in dreams could often mean severing the Penis / Phallus, i do not know you nor do i know what you are going through in your life though it does not Necessarily mean anything negative if i may so add.. more like possibility of renewal. growth of empowerment within yourself?.
The castration symbolism could mean a many number of things for you it could mean castration anxiety. but if i may add the positive or purposeful aspects of your dream , could mean to castrate your current internal phallus /Penis / Power which you have acquired & to replace it > liberating from this current source of power (if any & if it has served you) & replacing & finding your own > another power, “Empowerment within†that’s what the penis really symbolises for the human being on a primal as well as on a spiritual level (POWER) (EMPOWERMENT).
