I don’t claim to know all the answers, but I will say that it seems society is not what it claims. Evidence appears to point to the contrary. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Jesus loves everyone, the government is doing all it can to make our lives easier from one generation to the next, maybe religions, laws, parents’ rules and regulations should all be followed to the “T”, without any question or objective perception. Maybe we should all be striving to encompass ourselves in a cubical that affords us a thirty year mortgage on a house that will become our “prison away from work” and the latest million and a half dollar super-car that we’ll be sure to look like pompous, materialistic pricks driving. Let’s throw some spinning rims and fine jewelry on the Mastercard, just to make sure we’re so far in the hole we’ve dug for ourselves, we can’t even see the surface any longer, so we don’t even know which way to begin climbing.
This is the “American Dream”. Society will tell you that it brings happiness. Society will tell you that you should constantly strive for it. The harder you work, the more money you’re taxed. The more expensive the items you purchase, the more you are taxed. Should you stand back and take a long hard look at the society we live in? Should you refuse to live this way if you don’t see it giving you happiness? Should you revolt, if you are forced to play a part in this broken society? Religious leaders will tell you “No! Do not revolt. Turn the other cheek. Be passive. Pray into the air that you get a ‘better hand’ the next time around.” Government officials (From the president to the mayors, teachers and cops) will say “No! Do not revolt. You should strive to be a law abiding citizen.” Parents will tell you “No! Don’t revolt. You should strive to own fine homes, automobiles, etc.” Okay, let’s assume that your parents love you and even if the governments and religions have hidden agendas, your parents wouldn’t sacrifice your happiness to benefit society…unless they didn’t know. Your parents and grandparents were preached to about “honor” and “moral just” and “defending our god given rights”, then sent into Vietnam to “defend our christian nation”. We now know that the Vietnam War was a hoax. The North Vietnamese did not fire on us and start the war. This was a sham concocted by the government. We now live in an age of information and we are learning more and more about the ruthless untruths and disregard for human life practiced by our government.

Great works of our society

I guess Jesus doesn’t care for Vietnamese babies. Uncle Sam obviously doesn’t
Religion and our “God given freedom”, has been used to conduct the most vicious act of genocide in history.
“TOTAL: When I take all the individual death tolls listed here, weed out the duplicates, fill in the blanks, apply Occam (“Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate”), etc. I get a very rough total of 1½ M deaths in the Crusades.” This quote is taken from  http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070915035753AAw3uuz
If anyone wishes to debate my findings, you are invited to chime in with whatever reply you wish. I only ask that you provide sources to back up your claims and/ or reasoning behind them. No bible versus please, as I have read the King James edition, as well as the NIV and find no documented proof to back any versus that condone the behavior we’ve witnessed from christianity throughout the ages. I maintain my position that religion and society are “hand in hand” in the undoing of humanity and human nature. To all those opposed: I look forward to your findings.
-
As soon as Christianity was legal (315), more and more pagan temples were destroyed by Christian mob. Pagan priests were killed.
-
Between 315 and 6th century thousands of pagan believers were slain.
-
Examples of destroyed Temples: the Sanctuary of Aesculap in Aegaea, the Temple of Aphrodite in Golgatha, Aphaka in Lebanon, the Heliopolis.
-
Christian priests such as Mark of Arethusa or Cyrill of Heliopolis were famous as “temple destroyer.” [DA468]
-
Pagan services became punishable by death in 356. [DA468]
-
Christian Emperor Theodosius (408-450) even had children executed, because they had been playing with remains of pagan statues. [DA469]
According to Christian chroniclers he “followed meticulously all Christian teachings…” -
In 6th century pagans were declared void of all rights.
-
In the early fourth century the philosopher Sopatros was executed on demand of Christian authorities. [DA466]
-
The world famous female philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria was torn to pieces with glass fragments by a hysterical Christian mob led by a Christian minister named Peter, in a church, in 415.

This is similar to the witchcraft trials you may have learned about in school. Our society stems from such actions.

Who fucked you up.? Ok it was Society. People hated you.? Get over it.
Wow! What a strong reply as you’re buried under the facts. I now see how you must be a master of all that encompasses you. I thought the idea was that if you had information that you thought may be useful to others, you should share it. I guess if it has truth behind it, but steps on the frail toes of the ones who live lies, it is obscene. I’m sorry Donnie, I would never have done over ten years of research and share my findings with those whose posts end in questions, if I would have known that it would offend your delicate nature. How old are you, Donnie?
P.S. I am not, nor have I ever been “hated”, unless I choose to be. I can blend quite well with “sheeple”. I have a genuine looking smile, high cheekbones, a good complexion, great sense of humor, friendly demeanor, a chiseled body and a pretty descent sized…well, you get the point.
I make a living as a personal trainer/ boxing coach, have a beautiful girl, who loves me and I’ve written a novel and am working on the sequel. Just because I know how to play society’s game, doesn’t mean I agree with it. On the contrary, the best way to gain intel., is to gain trust…you know, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
I understand you points , and i wouldn’t be arguing that religion has been a certified winner for humanity, but we cant change the past, or how society runs, i don’t really like it either, but i what can we do ? i don’t think i could handle living in the bush eating nuts and berrys, and having to wipe my arse on dried leaves to avoid the “system”.. I’de personally like to kick Ronald Reagen in the nuts though, he played a big hand in forcing us down a dud road…. I have thoughts on Vietnam, What if the North were able to easily conquer the South with no resistance from anyone, do u think they would have been happy with just that ? why not keeping conquering, take Indonesia, Australia, no resistance, no one cares, What then ? Ever even thought about that ? no of course you havn’t…
You seem to have a decent head on your shoulders, when it comes to insight. I’ve offered a very different spin on things. It’s natural to feel the need to resist change, especially psychologically. I sometimes feel that you may be subject to naivety. I ask your age, because it would be unfair to ask someone in their early to mid-teens to wrap their mind around so much information in the time allowed and not want to jump back to traditional conclusions.
Bane.?
Fight me
The war was a predestined hoax, played out by American and North Vietnamese governments, for profit of course. Have you not read the de-classified information on the Gulf of Tonkin? The proof is in the puddin’. Zeitgeist? Building 7? War on Terror? NDAA? No, I don’t think North Korea would have kept taking over…do you know why? Because, North Vietnam WWWOOOOONNNNNNNN the war, hands down. Did they keep taking over? No! “Ever even thought about that? no, of course you haven’t…”
Korea=Vietnam* Typo in the brain. LOL
Who fucked you up.?
Earth to Donnie?
Why you so pissed at humanity.? People suck. Ok i get that. More.
You are arrogant, cynical and unempathetic. For these reasons, you will never influence anyone. How can you proclaim to understand humanity if you can’t even empathise with people? I don’t say these things as an attack, I am merely stating my observations. You may take the term sociopath as a compliment if you like, but that’s not how I meant it.
Donnie’s logical assumption that your level of arrogance, cynacism and lack of empathy is a defense mechanism against being hurt is met by more defensiveness. I think he might be on to something here. You say your girlfriend loves you. You never said you love her. I wonder.. do you love anyone???
@howard What’s the relevance of the vietnam war here? It was a civil war. America the stickybeak stuck it’s nose in someone else’s business. Got their asses kicked. End of story. Clearly north vietnam had no interest in conquering any other country. All they wanted was to overthrow the corrupt government in their country.
Relevance of Vietnam War was comments in his original post, just my opinion of it in response.
@howard – oh. I did not bother to read the whole post because I assumed it was yet another rant about the same shit. But for what it’s worth, it’s true what he says about Vietnam. Inside the USA they teach you an entirely untrue story about what happened there. And inside Vietnam it is known as ‘The American War’. What happened was, America was scared of communism, so when a communist revolt started in Vietnam, America swooped in to quash it. But they lost. Both sides suffered for America’s involvement in a war which did not concern them. I’ve been to vietnam, I went to the war museum in ho chi mihn and I the things I saw there made me want to puke. People in vietnam are still suffering deformities from agent orange and napalm that the americans were using.
one_day,
I’ve missed you and your half-cocked ideas. You call me a narcissist and hurt by others opinions, in the same paragraph. With a contradicting brain like that, I bet you’d make an excellent bible thumper.
Before you get too high and mighty, let me remind you that in order for god to grow in the minds and souls of his followers, there has to be a devil. I don’t mind representing an adversary’s point of view, as long as you people defend yourselves with your own minds and thoughts and stop crying “poor me”.
Whether you guys like it or not, when you’re blogging, it’s mostly “poor me” and feelings of seclusion, but when you’re replying to me, it’s aggressive and somewhat unified. Bravo!!! I think we’ve all had a little success today. Like I said before, if you wish to have better lives, it’s gonna’ take some fight.
I’m called arrogant, cynical and un-empathetic, but I don’t think I’ve read anything so alive of you guys, since I began reading your entries. Our opinions may differ greatly, but at least we’re all fired up, right? I gotta’ go for now. Time to hit the club. Thanks for the wonderful debate. I’ll try and catch up with you guys again tomorrow.
When did I call you a narcissist? Anyway, there’s nothing contradictory in saying that some people grow arrogant, cynical and unempathetic as a defense mechanism to being hurt. It’s called overcompensation.
Anyway, you’re arrogance shows in how you take credit for my passion and conviction. If you feel the need to pat yourself on the back for the simple task of being provocative in an arena like religion that is, by nature, provocative, go ahead. But don’t pretend that you’ve help anyone besides yourself today.
I understand what you mean by society has failed us, that is why we’re here. We feel empty and nothing around us makes sense. I was also told to study hard, to get a good job, so I can buy nice things. But in the words of Tyler Durden “You’re not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis.” I ‘ve watched some of the links you’ve posted I’ve watched “Zeitgeist” and “war on terror”, but i also agree with “howard ino” we cannot just quit society and go live in a bush. I know I can’t even though this whole thing makes no sense. In reality nothing can function if everyone becomes a “free thinkerâ€. You have obviously done your research but people don’t want to be told they are wrong that their life is just an illusion and what they were told by people they respected were lies. At one point in my life I set out to find out the truth and what I found made me so angry and crushed everything I knew. I got rid of religion in my mid-teens, just because it made no sense. I got tired of constantly feeling guilty and praying to the heaves. Religion made me feel worthless but not having religion also meant i was alone. It was a tough time. I lost some of my close friends and there was no longer an all powerful being watching over me. I was now responsible for my own actions and my decisions were no longer part of a divine plan. It is isolating, but somehow it was worth it. I used to be so aggressive with religious people because everything they said seemed irrational to me, but now I’ve calmed down. I understand some people just need that kind of security. They want an easy answer to difficult questions because the “unknown†is more frightening. It is so hard to take, so perhaps you should be more understanding. It is easier to believe what your parents and your friends believe. Same goes with all the other ideas you’ve mentioned. We live in a society that makes no sense but we play the game because its the only game we know. I might be able to do away with religion but to do away with the rest seems impossible.
It’s still the same nazi shit now! People with mental illness (any form of individuality) are treated like shit and locked up and drugged, meaning anybody who wont conform to society are called mentally ill and said to need “treatment” with harmful drugs. I am so fucking ashamed/disgusted/full of contempt with humanity that I just said fuck it no reason to talk to anybody anymore, so sick of hearing this damn small talk bullshit, its like nobody has anything new to say! I avoid people so much that I forgot how to function normally around them. I just don’t give a fuck about the social bullshit of relationships and drama and trying to compromise with everybody seriously its fucking brain splitting hell in burning boredom. If I didn’t meet the good people I have found here I would have aready pulled my own eyes out from sheer internal hell and isolation from everything.
Aww !!! one_day,
Is it back to “poor me” already? I would have thought you to have more fight.
Going to “live in the bush” will not be an option. It’s funny that most of you claim that suicide is the only way out. I guess it’s better than having to part with your iphones and air conditioning. Not to worry though, as living in the bush will not be one of the choices left to you, though when that day comes, you may wish it was. To those of you who DO choose suicide over departure from your parents mini-mansion in the suburbs: Might I suggest that you get on with your grand finale, as you do fit the complete definition of “loser” and have no place among the ones who are truly tormented. The world is already overpopulated and you are a waste of resources.
so … exactly what is your point and purpose?
fine, knowledge = power and if the knowledgeable power brokers can deceive the ignorant masses, they can modify and influence behaviors of those who’s primary mission is to feed provide for their families … SPIN has been in existence since humans started living and interacting in tribes.
should everyone “revolt” and create their own little empires and become independent isolationists?
i’ve read this post 3 or 4 times and although you may have regurgitated “facts” as you know them to be – what practical point does any of this have on the daily realities of the individual?
Vietnam? are you kidding me? why not the trojan war?
Hooray – you read the bible and arrived at a conclusion – you win a cookie
anyone can illuminate a “problem” throughout history – question is what are you going to do about it? Or are we just being distracted from the solution by focusing on the history books and who wrote them and why?
forward dawg
ahh – i see, you’re just here to persuade people to die – wow… that’s original
unimpressed dawg
@ Nolent. You could be right about everything you have said, and yet you delivered it with such insult that nobody will even consider your ideas. How often does fuck you I’m right change sombodies mind?
Best line of the day: “How often does ‘fuck you I’m right’ change somebody’s mind?”
Brilliant in it’s stark simplicity
simpleton dawg
One more short flick and I’m done, if you want.
May I also add that slavery of african americans was justified by the bible
puritans the original prodesents killed off ,raped and took over the home of native americans
Left handers seen as the devils children were mistreated and abused
epileptics were seen as being possessed by the devil and were thrown in asylums
women seen as also being possessed ,evil thrown into asylums
oh and the catholic church ran the first prostitution business.
