My teacher said this today: “If you’re having a down day you can’t just wish to be seven again, you can’t wish it all away. You have to learn to adapt”
I think she ment pretend you are seven or block everything out, becuase usually people at the age of seven do not have a care in the world as to what is going on.
Believe it or not, there are people in the world that this is a viable option. Then there are people like “us” for whom it just doesn’t work that way. Our brain chemistry is different. But those who don’t suffer, tend to think that all people are the same and what works for them should work for everyone.
Ha! Telling me to adapt is like telling me to pretend it all away.
Don’t hate her for not understanding that it doesn’t work that way for you, she just doesn’t get it and never will.
She meant that we can’t just let ourselves be upset, we have to learn to adapt to that sadness and accept it and move on.
She’s an idiot. It doesn’t work that way.
And yes, some people do think it is basically impossible to be this upset all the time, and I mean ALL THE TIME. I don’t get how it’s so hard to grasp, but then I suppose I don’t get how people can be happy ALL THE TIME. So, yeah.
But sometimes adapting to overwhelming situations in life is pretty much………… OVERWHELMING!
So yeah, fuck it. Sometimes people just don’t understand how difficult situations can feel like it’s been multiplied 10 times for us. Especially if they say it to just “get over it” using the “wrong tone” of voice, it pisses me off.
In the end, adapting is a viable option though because if you are sick and tired of being sick and tired chances are you do something fun to get over it. Adaptation is a coping mechanism I usually do.
***** indeed. Amazing that an educated person can have the mental capacity of a toad. Hang in there. If Karma is right … she is growing a huge pimple on her face even as we speak!

What did she mean?

So how our brians our wired is diffrent?
Oh and on your last paragrth, you make a good point, you cannot blame someone for the ignorance.

And our brains are definitely wired differently.
I mean a agree with you, we cannot feel happy all of the time.
Plus if we did then how would we know, what is happiness without sadness.
We need sadness to mesure happiness.
Plus if we felt happy ALL OF THE TIME then we would eventully get used to it and feel apathetic.
I agree with FirstTimeSurvivor all the way!

Ask her what she meant
I don’t know how to adapt, that’s my stupid problem.
