As far as death is concerned there are those who emphasize it being the end of all things, even the possibilities of positive occurences. Even going so far as to say it will get better, as if no other negatives will occur or the positives will outweigh the negatives in the future.
Not saying this cannot happen, but for someone whose negatives have outweighed their positives, especially those who have been continually abused and used as children, teens, and adults this somewhat optimistic view is very hard to swallow.
And effort and attitude are only parts of the picture. One can have the most positive attitude in the world and try their best to adapt and change and still end up with mostly negative life events. And no matter how much one changes ones perspective to the positive, harmful and hurtful events will still be the reality and viewing them a different way will not make them end or go away.
Add in the fact that a long life will only bring old age with its accompanying mental and physical decline and for some of us self inflicted death is a welcome end. Of course one can stay lucid and fit into old age but for some this level of maintanence is not enough.
Many advocate generosity to others to keep one’s mind off death. And it is a workable activity for many. But for those whose previous kindness has been met with mostly negative results  such a path is very difficult to envision.Â
Yes, many who want to die are depressed and have mental issues. But others who want to die are completely rational. And their only irrationality can be said to exist only if one assumes that choosing life should be the best de facto choice for all humans. Â
Similarly those who say that living any lifestyle other than marriage with children makes one immature and missing out on life. This makes the assumption that matrimony and child rearing should be the automatic goals of all humans.
As with the range of sexuality having many valid parts, I think that some people fall on different parts of the life and death scale without being mentally ill just because they prefer to avoid all pain rather than accept, tolerate, and cope.  I dare say that preferring a life that is 100% free of pain and full of pleasure is a valid desire of a reasonable mind even though reality does not work that way.
And locking some people up and drugging them just because they want to die is tantamount to slavery and it is also proof that even our relative freedom is an illusion. Especially the way resources are parcelled out arbitrarily in a fashion to add to the causes of dissatisfaction with existence.
Here and offline I’ve heard and read stories that would make a psychopath gain a conscience. And since some of those issues cannot actually be cured/fixed , why should the sufferers not be allowed to die?
Some associates and I may attempt lobby for full service euthanasia clinics. Where we can go and legally sign a contract to get a painless and diginified death without having to procure the means on our own. Some would say that not being able to do it oneself is cowardly, but after failures and just plain fear some people may be suffering more to have to be here.  Â
If they can abort a fetus why can’t a born human not choose to die.

Perfectly logical what you’ve said, I agree. There are many gaps in societies logic. I know it’s legal in Switzerland and Oregon but you have to have a doctor approved terminal illness.
It’s interesting that subway and railroad crews who have to clean up unsightly messes have not pushed for this legislation. A bill in Quebec was quashed that would have started the ball for euthanasia….. Society would rather someone carry out their intention with a more violent means than face this reality and make a moral decision based on the autonomy of an individual’s expressed lack of quality of life. Truly backwards. Eventually, I believe it will change because more and more people want it.
As you said, it would be safer, controlled and dignified…amen to that.
yup .. one is forced to make a big deal out of existence, fight his/her ass of to survive because this one life is supposedly all (s)he’ll ever have .. lol
I wish the majority could understand that in some people’s eyes, life is a pointless journey & that this perception doesn’t imply you need to be fixed (= put existence on a pedestal regardless of your life experiences) against your will
