My sister’s boyfriend recently committed suicide. She was with him practically everyday. I got to know him through her. He was positive. Even in the midst of crazy shit, he was generally and genuinely positive. He didn’t normally let life get him down. Now, he has passed. Didn’t see it coming, do not think many people did. I’m currently grieving, I guess? My sister is about to start college. She was doing pretty good the two weeks before this happened. She has been clean for a little bit. She relapsed on drugs prior but she’s been getting her “shit” together and a bit more positive in her thinking. Now this has happened. She’s been in shock, then sad, then numb, then pissy, then sad, a bunch of tears periodically. But the reason why i am messaging this is because I just talked to her and now all of the sudden everything is better. Shes not afraid of death. She’s gonna be happy for him. She is gonna get through shit so she can see him again. She basically seems manic since i last spoke to her (she sounded hopeless, depressed.not judging i mean Im not surprised given the circumstances.) BUT now shes all talkative and positive. Bottom line, I do not wanna lose my sister. should i be worried? any one relate? i’m not sure what to expect nor exactly how to handle this situation.

It is very common for people who have lost someone to suicide to think of suicide themselves.
Yes, for both you and your sister, there is a concern as you have been affected by this loss.
Some suicide hotlines have programs to help with this.

It seems very obvious to me that your sister is following her boyfriend’s path. she went on this drug crazy rampage now all of a sudden she’s happy and positive and cheery? Hello, open your eyes. You should keep an eye on your sister and not take shit. Wanna know why? because lies are easy to make.
