What is it, exactly?
Who is this great and mighty wizard behind the curtain that we should not pay attention to?
What is his/her objective; his/her goal; his/her agenda for creating and maintaining this website?
I have an itch and it just ain’t getting scratched, so I figure I aught to scratch it myself.
I have seen speculation that this site exists as a college thesis project; others speculate it is some sort of psychological experiment. I think the truth is often not very obvious, but it is still truth, independent of any speculation and opining.
I hope it isn’t out-of-line for me to post this. If so, I apologize. I do not wish to step on any toes, I am simply curious.

Very original haha.
Personally I think the goal is simple. To reach out to hurting people because no one else can.
But the staff are largely invisible. There is zero interaction between the users and the people running the show, from what I can tell.
Aside from the occasional moderator or two, of course, but even they seem compartmentalized and detached from the site’s administration itself.
I’m at a loss.
I have often wondered the same thing myself and also thought maybe it could be a college project. but I don’t know…
can we get an answer???
This site was created in 2004, I believe. If so, that would be an awfully long stay at college. Maybe you should ask the admin why it’s taking him (or her) so long to graduate. Sorry, just being a smart ass. I read old admin posts and they said that it was created as a safe place to share suicide stories of your own or someone you know that was suicidal or had committed suicide.
I think the real question is – what is the Suicide Project NOW? Eh? Just my 2 cents.
I’m inclined to think it is simply what it appears to be, and nothing more. But my curiosity is more revolving around what inspired its creation; why suicide project? Why not happy bunny nature galleries, or a porn site, or maybe a snazzy hamster-dance knockoff?
There are many questions to ask. I’ll try to keep them limited. 😉
Ah, I see. That is a good question. What inspired it’s creation indeed. Perhaps the admin was suicidal at one point or knew someone who was. They’ll probably never tell us. But I imagine they’ll be reading this thread, because they seem to respond to threads that are about them. Or SP chat, anyway.
haha, happy bunny nature galleries, porn site, hamster-dance? Well, the little android cartoon picture thingy next to my username looks like a pair of tits on a frog – does that count? Those annoy me, kind of. Is there anyway to change those, admin?
I think it started off as a project that ended up not having an end.
My iconish thing looks like an elephant that’s squinting. :O
Whatever it started out as, it has impacted a lot of people, myself included. And now it has spawned conspiracy theories. It can’t get any better than that.
Yeah, I always thought yours looked like an elephant, orangish. But today I thought it resembled a bike. With a basket in front.
Hmmmm…. actually, now that you mention it, I think all the icons resemble a digital Rorschach test….
Intriguing…
Hmmm… that is interesting. I wouldn’t have thought of that. Good catch, orangish.
We’re experimental rats.
What happens when suicidal people, from around the world, come together?
The fallen healing the fallen.
The oppressed creating a sub-culture.
The cycle repeating itself, again and again.
