So Lauren came to me about a week ago, and asked me *is the brain a product of the mind, or the mind the product of the brain*
and automatically my response was *the mind a product of the brain* why? because the mind would not exist without the brain. the brain is a storage for memory, which can contribute to how the mind process and projects information. there are several parts of the brain that control emotion, danger reaction. memory, visual and auditory aid. but the question *where is the mind in the brain* has baffled even the most brilliant minds of all time.                             Read this article :
*Where does the mind reside? It’s a question that’s occupied the best brains for thousands of years. Now, a patient who is self-aware – despite lacking three regions of the brain thought to be essential for self-awareness – demonstrates that the mind remains as elusive as ever.
The finding suggests that mental functions might not be tied to fixed brain regions. Instead, the mind might be more like a virtual machine running on distributed computers, with brain resources allocated in a flexible manner, says David Rudrauf at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, who led the study of the patient.*
That to me sounds like the mind its self is a different deity, separated from the brain itself to float and function in whatever region necessary.
For something so ever present as the mind in all people, it is a little odd to not be able to localize its place among things. but then again humans are not perfect.
Now back to Metacognition, to think about thinking, because in essence isnt that what we are doing?
The thing that really stumps me is the fact that a a person with a Dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities) can think well above there brains capabilities.
a person with Dissociative identity disorder can know things they other wise did not know before, or were ever capable of knowing. they have primary information, which they gather and store themselves. and secondary information they get from there other personalities.
these said people can have a full blown conversation with them-self and learn things, they can ask questions and get answers to the questions, whether they knew the answer or not. to me its comprehensible, wel it would be if the mind was control or part of the brain at least. its funny how such a simple question has such a complex answer, you know?

Metacognition is a very huge subject. Some scientists believe that our memories are actually stored in our neurons (brain cells), which makes it difficult for us to forget traumatic events of our past. The nice thing about the brain is that it can form new neural connections if you keep your neurons firing. The human brain is a wonderful creation of evolution, when it is working properly.
The question is how to fix a brain that is not working properly and suffering from mental illness?
