I feel trapped, caged, waiting to get out.
Then what?
Go to college?
Be force-fed information again?
Sit down and have people tell me what I need to know?
Go to another institution, following more rules and regulations so I can do what,
get a stable career the rest of my life?
Everyone’s always telling me how important it is.
Everyone’s doing it
Everyone’s going to college.
What I really want to do is run barefoot in an open field and fall asleep under the stars
I want to ride a vintage motorcycle down a country road as fast as I can
to smoke cigars in a bar with a shot of whiskey
to go where I want when I feel like it without anyone holding me down, trying to do whats best for me
to get in a fist fight
to get a tattoo
to dance and sing whenever I feel like
to be as loud and obnoxious as I want

me too. i hate how we are born to die in a socity where you must go to college to be successful
It really does seem like everyone’s goal is to push you onto the beaten path, and watch you work a steady job right into your grave. I hope you can find your own way and do what you love.
These days, going to college is a poor decision unless you’re absolutely set on a certain profession that strictly requires a degree, like doctor, lawyer or scientist. But you sound like you thrive on the simple pleasures in life, in which case you don’t need tons of money to be happy. That’s a fantastic thing. The alternative is materialism, which is an eternal gnawing hunger that can only be satisfied for brief moments. It’s amazing how little money you need to live well if you cook for yourself and entertain yourself. I think you’re gonna be just fine. 🙂
Thank you! your comments mean alot
It’s a natural role for Society to come up with general definitions and expectations of what success, love, happiness, beauty… looks like but that’s they are general expectations.
Statistically people make more money having a collage degree and that might or might not lead to happiness, fulfillment or whatever. A capitalist Society wants/needs you to believe it does.
If you’re the kind of person that is comfortable going against the grain and can embrace uncertainty…
If these wants are not fantasies
(I enjoy the fantasy of thinking about spending my days on the beach but the reality is after a day I’d be bored. The fantasy soothes me as a fantasy and I don’t need it to be anything more)
If the kind of person you describe is within you. Go for it!
Ride the motor bike, travel those roads, fight those fights!
I am sure everyone on this site would be cheering you on!
