Do any one eles thing they should do a show or movie foucesing on how deep a depressed, sudicidal , mind works…. Would you watch this show or movie if it was real?
I would definitely watch it! In my psych course we were talking about certain films with this topic, when I go in on Monday i’ll try to get the list if youre interested 🙂
TV often does a poor job of portraying mental illness….if you have watched any Lifetime Movie, you’d understand…
Movies are often linear–a beginning, middle, and a happy ending. Real life does not work that way, and it does those dealing with a mental illness a disservice.
I do believe that movies and television can do a good job of educating others though–however, in a 2-hour timeslot for a movie, a lot gets lost. I know some television series that do a pretty good job though.
