I used to be really depressed, even hung myself once in a motel room only to be stopped by housekeeping. Any way over the past couple of years i have been feeling much better and honestly thought i was over it. this last year it is as if there is some force that is jamming me down into a deep hole and won’t let me out. My car is a piece of shit so i start saving for a new one, it gets stolen this week and i am at $450 and counting fixing it, savings gone. I start working out to get my old wrestling body back, i rip a tendon in my shoulder at work, body still skinny and out of shape. I rescue a dog for company and because i love dogs, 3 months later it gets hit by a truck, no more Ares (dog’s name). i was up for a promotion at work a month ago and had a great interview for it, nope sorry, we can’t promote anyone, in fact we are making cuts and have to let you go, good luck. at this point i am really not sure what is keeping me from taking a header of my balcony.

It seems like a few of the events that happened are out of your control…. stolen car, Ares, and the job loss. The tendon was self-induced but that happens sometimes. Many of the things that happen in life are outside of our control. We can do our best to prepare and plan for them… but ultimately we often don’t control the time or intensity of what’s going to happen.
Your best bet is to catch your breath and regroup. Make a plan for the future. Break it down into small pieces so you’re not overwhelmed. Prioritize. You’ll probably need to work on the job first because many other things in life rely on money. From there, move steadily down the list.
It’s a tough economy. Very tough. You’re not alone. The best you can do is work hard to find work. Make it a full-time project. When you find a job, spend only what you need and try to bank the rest. As your savings builds, go from there.
Above all, don’t give up.
Wow, what terrible luck you’ve had. I know how it feels when everything seems to be going wrong. Distant road offers good advice, though, so perhaps if you try what he suggests things will slowly start to fall into place for you. Sometimes we just can’t catch a break, but we CAN try to maintain our sanity even while everything is falling apart. Remember, you’re stronger than you think.
