I’m planning on posting my story soonish… but just had a thought… do you think I’ll be able to keep up with my tv episodes in the afterlife? maybe I’ll be too busy for tv anyway? Still that would be a sore point for me if I didn’t know how Pretty Little Liars ends… or if I couldn’t watch season 3 of Continuum… or The Vampire Diaries, or Glee, or Murdoch Mysteries, or Nikita, or The Newsroom, or The Mentalist…
It doesn’t bother me enough to sway my decision… but still, it would be nice to know!

I don’t know… When I was young though, the ‘MacGyver’ tv series was something that kept me hanging on … Oh, and ‘Airwolf’ and ‘Knight Rider’ played a part as well …
I used to ask myself the same thing….then I realized…..It doesn’t matter…..I used to think I would be missing something but am I really? After all If I see it what would it help me with in real life? what benefit does it provide me with other than knowing what happened in a fictional world to a fictional character?…. I no longer care….T.V is nothing but a distraction and propaganda tool anyway….When I end my life I will not miss anything from this world except the past
You’re right it wont matter… I guess I’m just trying to occupy myself until its time…
searchingformeaning: what do you do now to hang on? just curious.
Unfortunately there is no evidence to remotely suggest there is anything like an afterlife in existence … much less a heaven or hell of deities that administer such places – no evidence to suggest they exist either … and if there were such beings and places, one must consider their purpose … heaven is a place for you to profess your undying love to the creator god for all eternity and hell is a place for those who are deemed unworthy to spend eternity grovelling at the supernatural feet of the creator god and thus will spend eternity in agonizing torment … both of which conjure up images of a type of hell and torment that are unacceptable to anyone who chooses to look beneath the surface of the proposed constructs
so if you’re to accept the ancient texts as “evidence” of the existence of these things, it would seem neither place has kept up with technology and installed TVs, much less ordered a cable subscription … but if you’re going to believe in such things on such flimsy “evidence” then there is no reason not to assume that they do have all the TV and channels you might choose to watch – it’s as realistic a situation to believe as it is to accept the current evidence that sets up the construct of all the other supposed supernatural things claimed and interpreted from scriptures.
So – in short, to answer your question – sure there’s TV in heaven – why not? On this plane you’re free to create whatever afterlife you choose to believe 🙂
reality dawg
I’m hoping the South African cricket team wins the world cup …. They simply have to win the next one – it’s rather mind-boggling that they haven’t won it yet… I’ve been cheering them on for so long – such a talented side… I’m gonna try and hang on until at least the next cricket world cup; I’m not sure *what’s* going to sustain my (current) existence here beyond that… Not much else going on for me, really …
Post your story
Watching sports use to be a reason for me to live….To see who won the championship….because I somehow believed I had to hold on to witness it….but once I did I realized….I am not doing anything but prolonging my death by watching a bunch of overpaid athletes do something so meaningless to me….After all does who wins or loses affect me in any way? nope….
After their rather tragic exit from the ’92 world cup, during which we saw the super fielding talent of Jonty Rhodes — his run – out of Inzamam ul Haq is for me one of the best sporting moments of all time — I’ve been rooting for them to win that cup like just about nothing else… I just have to try and hang on for one more world cup… Just one more … That’s just me, though…
searching: you should make a point of going to see the world cup! I hope they win for you 🙂
PainN: Your right! they are overpaid, this world definitely has its priorities wrong.
Thank you, freemee !! 🙂
This team definitely needs all the support they can get… Like I said, it’s ‘mind-boggling’ that they haven’t won it yet… Just mind-boggling …
Thank you !!
So my “essay” went straight to spam again, despite being on topic and in response to several comments here, including the OP.
I would like to see the list of words i’m not allowed to use, which trigger spam sorting.
I guess i’ll just suggest reading Dawg’s comment several times.
(clevernames original post) :@sfm:
“Airwolf! Knight Rider!
On another note:
I don’t necessarily think that professional athletes are overpaid. I just think that almost everyone else is Underpaid. To dedicate one’s life and risk one’s highly developed and finely tuned physical body, to a “game,†or a coordinated but non-predetermined contest… takes a very special kind of person. Most typical people would not have any chance of performing competitively on that level.
But yes, some of them are certainly obscenely overpaid. Lebron comes to mind. But if run a multi-billion-dollar organization whose success is determined by paying the absolute best athletes to dedicate their best efforts toward winning… i think you’d probably agree that you should just spend the money on those “supermen.â€
On the other hand, the entire “professional sports†industry seems primarily motivated by advertisement, endorsement, and selling lots of products to consumers. What an elaborate way of going about convincing someone to buy apparel… or whatever the “superstars†happen to be paid to endorse.
And then there’s the “huge distraction†aspect. It’s just another fantasyland mindset to keep people from thinking about “important†things, so that bad or unjust things can be done, and we’ll just ignore or accept them, because hey, we want to know who wins. We want to know how the story ends. We can’t wait for the season premier, after that season-finale cliffhanger!
Whether or not it started out as such, it sure helps facilitate the mass mind-control. Those who wake up, see it, try to awaken others, and try to break away, are the ones who end up getting called “crazy,†shunned, ostracized, and ultimately pushed out of this life… and out of the way.
But like Dawg said: TV in “heaven?†Sure, why not. Heaven is whatever you want to imagine it to be… while you are alive to imagine it. That’s the point of being told that a “heaven†exists. It’s supposed to help us feel better about things we’ll never have or do or be, and will be unable to change, in this life. If your idea of heaven involves watching TV… then i suppose that’s what you need it to be.”
@clevername I tried to copy your post and resubmit it …needless to say it didn’t work I don’t understand what triggers the spam catcher…..but in response to that post I agree
There are tv networks in the afterlife; abc: afterlife broadcasting network, hbo: heavenly box office, pbs: pergatory broadcasting service, amc: afterlife movie channel.
lol reno
Airwolf and Knight Rider were my favourites too. I used to like the theme tunes. I think they were better in the 80’s.
SA have never won a major tournament even with Alan Donald, Shaun Pollock and Jonty Rhodes. They’ve always had the star players but not the depth. If you look at the curent squad, Steyn and A B de Villiers are amongst the best in the world but the rest are ordinary. Jacques Kalis is approaching retirement.
.
You should include Hashim Amla there (amongst the best in the world)… You’re right, though — there does seem to be a lack of depth (currently) … 1996 should really have been their year, but a certain Brian Lara thought to save his best performance (if I remember correctly) for that quarter-final… 1999 – well, another tragedy… …
.
Yeah, the ‘Airwolf’ theme tune … Man, when that bird took to the skies – yeah… At least _some_ good childhood memories…
.
Good plot, great characters, catchy theme tunes and interesting hairstyles. Can’t beat the 80’s.
The Morkels are good. India are probably the most consistent one day 20/20 side at the moment.
.
Well, India – 20/20 and ODI’s; yes, they are pretty much on top of it right now me…
SA does have enough talent – Don’t really get why they’re not really performing in the ODI’s …
.
I actually don’t really remember the characters much; just that one guy with the rather cool hair, and this one cute girl…. But, as a kid, that stuff (those action [-adventure] series) really helped…
.
Do you perhaps recall this one series where this guy drove this ‘truck’ with even a helicopter ‘attached’ to it ? — just remember it vaguely; but I think it was also rather cool …
.
I think you might be referring to The Highwayman. I never watched that series.
The uk is one of the few countries where generally, television has gotten worse. There isn’t a single British television series that I watch.
.
Yeah; that’s it – ‘The Highwayman’ …
.
Currently, I don’t watch any TV series; just sport and a bit of the news …
