Death is the ultimate silence and peace that we seek, however I think being human, alive can have many benefits.
The problem is that it we also suffer a lot and sometimes the good things about life get outweighed by the bad.
There were many times I wished I was dead and in the situations that I found myself in, it would probably have been best if I was dead.
But I’ve also had amazing experiences, which is hard to communicate to others in words, but sometimes the struggles are worth the rewards that potentially come afterwards.
It’s almost silly what I live for-but pretty much all of it is in the realm of pleasure, the company of a beautiful girl, fine drink and food, fun activities, travelling-these things, or the expectation of such things keep me around.
But more than that is knowing I matter a great deal to those around me and life would be worse for others if I was gone. Objectively I really don’t have much to live for. Thankfully I didn’t make the mistake of having kids so I wouldn’t have to worry about leaving them behind.
It’s very easy for me to flip from the glass half full to empty perspective, but for now things are looking more optimistic for me. Still in truth I’m tired of struggling to improve myself financially and physically to get the rewards I want from life.
I hope in the end it’ll be all worth it. But at least once I’ve had it, then I can die in peace and satisfaction knowing that I didn’t miss out on anything and that is really why I’m still here.
you’re stating this silly notion as if it was a proven fact. What ‘home’ are you talking about, have you been there? How do you know it exists?
Let’s not give people false and childish ideas of a happy afterlife when it doesn’t exist. The reality is that when we die, everything ceases and we won’t even know we had once existed. That is why I called it the ultimate peace above and it’s also why people with very troubled lives seek it out.
If you came from nothing, you will return to nothing. But no one has yet been able to tell us what happens after death. And perhaps that is because it IS nothing. I have no probelm whatsoever with your arguement.

Did you ever consider that when you die, you get to go home? But congrats to you for living fully when you can.
