That’s what I say all the time. What if the problem isn’t temporary? I think it’s hard for them to understand the longevity of certain problems and of course it’s impossible for them to understand the deepest despair unless touched by it themselves.
the only thing working in favor of their argument, is that life itself is temporary.
It’s not like avoiding suicide is going to make you live forever.
If anything, it’s a permanent solution to a multitude of problems, many of which are quite arbitrary, unavoidable, and beyond our control… some of which are “technically possible” to change, but changing them is implausible, because “people don’t get it.”
But then there’s the stuff no one can change, no matter how much they listen, to matter how hard anyone tries. Some people do have “permanent” problems (meaning those problems cannot be solved during their lives, which effectively makes them permanent, even though life is ultimately temporary). Many times, there is no way to effectively cope with the things that can’t be corrected.

i think most people have a very skewed perception of time and mortality. Some people seem to think everyone lives forever. This causes lots of problems for the people who realize we don’t live forever, and just how important it is to avoid the BS and get done as much of the stuff you wanted to do, as quickly as possible, because someday, sooner than most people realize, you will be either sick, or old and decrepit, and unable to do all that stuff you wanted to do with your relatively brief existence.
Just like suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, so is spending years taking meds and talking to therapists. Even that can be temporary for a lot of people.
Depression isn’t always “temporary”… suicide can be a better permanent solution than spending years suffering trying and failing to be happy

Exactly. For some it’s a permanent solution to a permanent problem.

Wait…life is temporary…
so thaaats what it means 😀 just got that, the ‘temporary problem’ is life, not whatever shit you’re going through lol
