Unless you’re adhering to the adage “what you don’t know, can’t hurt you” in which case you may want to rethink that strategy if you really want this person to understand you.
The confusing part of this is the one liner is extremely vague. Thought it implicates that you are surrounded by some [close] people, and wish they just knew your story. But not really knew. More just knew AND understood. And don’t we all wish this? That the closest people could just accept our stories, understand them, go a step further and be there while we struggled?
It’s possible thought. It is possible to patch up a horrible case of communication. Little steps at a time. It always starts with ourselves. We must make ourselves better, to better our relationships with others. Maybe they won’t understand. Ever. Maybe you’ll be strong enough to one day make them.

It may be worth the shot! 🙂
One tenet of life is “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know”.
Could you really mean “I wish you understood”? Or could it be more of “I really wish I could tell you”?
It feels more like the former to me.
I wish I knew, too.
