A few weeks ago me and my fiance were to pick my mom up for an appointment she had. I opened the door all I saw was her legs and pills everywhere. I ran to her screaming “MOM”. She could speak she threw up all over herself her eyes were red. She looked so hopeless! My fiance got on the phone called an ambulance they came and asked her what she took all she kept saying was ” 5 bottles”, all we saw was Percocets on the floor. After she was brought to the ER and was settled we went back to her place to clean up the mess. My fiance went to throw out something in the garbage to find 5 bottles of sleeping pills… it all sense.
We went back to the hospital and all my mom could say was ” I guess I didn’t take enough”.
She was in ICU for a bit then moved to another ward.she just came home yesterday. My heart breaks for her. We had decided that she could no longer live alone so she will be living with us soon.
I just don’t know how to deal with the whole situation now! I feel like a caregiver now and that I have to watch my mom and make sure she doesn’t go into that dark place again.
She is truly lucky to be alive cause it wasn’t her time to go

I know this sounds “defeatist” but try to remember that if your mom really wants to check out she will find a way, whether staying with you or not. Try not to take it all upon yourself – get help for yourself and encourage her to get help for herself. You can be a sounding board for her, you can be a tremendous source of support but if you become overwhelmed or the situation becomes too intense things can spiral downward very quickly. At the very least, find a therapist or other resource you can talk to and that can help you keep things in balance. It will really help.
I will be talking to someone for sure! And yes I agree about what you are saying 100%
