Those we love

We bear the pain of living for years on end
To keep those we love happy
We stay alive and continue breathing within our misery
So our loved ones won’t suffer in our divine demise

Yet there will come a time
When this illness becomes too strong
So strong that the love we have for others
Is lost as the darkness consumes us

That is when we tell our loved ones
Just how much we love them one more time
Yet they can never understand suicide
They all assume we did it out of selfishness

What they don’t realise
Is that we survived life this long for them
Eventually we cannot continue being selfless anymore
Hence why we decide to take our inevitable death into our own hands

Our loved ones must realise that we still love them
We do this not to abandon them
We lift a burden from their shoulders
And we extinguish the burning pain of fire with this method

If our loved ones truly love us
They won’t waste emotions
On anger, feelings of abandonment or the likes
Instead they will smile with the knowledge that we finally found peace

Everyone dies.
There is no avoiding death.
So why is it considered a crime to chose our own time when we decided we’ve lived as long as we can?
Why is it a crime to commit suicide?

I can say why.

Death is an act of nature
Yet some of us merely take matters into our own hands

Whether you live a full life to the age of ninety
Or whether you decide you simply cannot carry on at the age twenty
Either way, you will die.

Death is not a crime.
It’s an act of nature and the time of said event is unpredictable.

Hence Suicide is not a crime.
It is a demise of one soul that affects the life of others.
Yet between death and life – it is but a temporary separation

To my loved ones –
We shall all meet again.
Just not in this world
But I promise you this –

This is not my final goodbye.
