Has anyone overdosed on (insert poison picked here) and had bad short/long term consequences? Both in terms of health, emotions, relationships… Has looking death in the eye (e.g. waking up in a hospital bed) ever changed your mind and motivated you to live?

Whenever anyone mentions the word “overdose,” on this site, I just shake my head and sigh.
Haha why? I know it never works, so I’m wondering if all of those people are walking around with stomach lining problems, etc.
Possibly, but they’d have to try it more than a few times to have any chronic health issues from it. Unless they were unfortunate enough to try with some highly abrasive substance.
Hmm that makes sense. Also I always wonder if you wake up and no one is there and it makes you feel worse or if people wake up and you are like ‘zomg somebody actually cares’ and then it’s all rainbows and unicorns. Or they are just furious with you, which is what I would predict for my case….
I woke up one time and was like, “Gah, quit licking my face! Stupid cat. I’M SORRY I DIDN’T MEAN IT!”
That was a weird one.
most meathods described here i shake my head and sigh. been their, done that, dont recomend it. recovery is just plain miserable
So my family has this dog – a Samoyed, really cute white fluffball – and she ate an entire bottle of percocets one day. Like, a lot of damn percocets. She fell asleep under the bed, curled up next to the bottle, and the next day, and the day after that, we couldn’t find her. Three days later, she crawled out from under the bed, and she hasn’t been the same since. Now she likes to head-butt walls, and people’s legs, for no good reason. It’s like that’s how she shows affection, which is a weird thing to do to wall, but she does it. I’m not even kidding, this story is actually true. I dunno, I thought it was relevant. Heh.
ok, losing it, that poor dog, lmao
to a wall*
Adorably depressing?? Now I’m just thinking about if that’s what happened to humans and I can’t tell if I’m laughing or crying……..
Well, to be fair, samoyeds have a personality inclined towards bizarre adorableness, so it’s possible the percocets had nothing to do with it.
D’awwww
Hi xanadu, as a pet lover I was very concerned when I read about your dog’s “head butting” behaviour, it could indicate a very serious health problem . Here is a link with more info: http://www.dogheirs.com/dogheirs/posts/5625-dogs-who-head-press-should-see-a-vet-asap-recognizing-this-behavior-could-save-your-dogs-life
Yeah most of the time people try to overdose on pills and so forth or a poision it does not ut an end to them but they wind up messed up in some way. Like damage to the lining of their stomach or some other issue.
It is possible to overdose on something and die but its not as easy as people think and
doesnt always work out the way you think.
If you really wanna do it, do it in a way where there’s no (or very little) chance of failure. Attempts at overdosing are, imo, pleas for attention more than anything.
