agree w/ this. Exercise, if you can muster up the willingness to do it, works wonders. I should practice what i ‘preach’, and when i occasionally do, i can’t believe how much better i feel emotionally and mentally.
Nope. You’re dead, kid.
Just sit down and let it goooooooo, let it gooooooo. Or walk in circles. Or walk for miles in any direction. Emotions will die soon enough and you can fight the thoughts later.
So I was searching all comments to see if anybody’s posted about ASMR and by total coincidence I found where someone posted a comment to *this* post about it (yes, this one you’re reading my comment on), but it hasn’t been approved yet. I second that person’s suggestion of trying out ASMR. I won’t put direct links in here because I suspect that person’s link might be the reason why the comment didn’t go through automatically.

asmrlab(dot)com has info on “common ASMR triggers” with video clips to help you check if you experience pleasant tingling (though if you’re like me you might need a bit more time with each sound to be sure, the first time you try it– for that, go to Youtube’s countless ASMR vids, make sure they have 3D/holophonic/binaural audio, and be sure to wear headphones so it feels like you’re there.) A day later I seem to be able to make it happen just by thinking about it. (I keep reading about people who have to wait a month for the tingles to “come back” after doing it too much though, so I guess we’ll see…)

If you want to see more, Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Vice, and others also have articles, and sites like “asmr-research(dot)org,” and “asmruniversity(dot)com” have more detailed information. Unfortunately there hasn’t been any funding put into medical research on this yet but it seems to do wonders for anxiety and insomnia sufferers. It’s certainly helping me with my own anxiety over the less-than-a-day since I’ve looked into it. (After I’ve given it some more time, maybe I’ll do a new post on it here.)
You’re welcome! Also, you’re absolutely right about exercise and meditation. ^^^
The nice thing about ASMR is that it technically *IS* a form of mindfulness (calming the mind and focusing on the senses). Now if we can just get physical exercise in, haha. 😉
