What tools? What do you practice? I’ve come to realize a couple things. “it” will stop in how ever long it takes for your mind give it up. Sometimes it’s just a matter of putting time and distance (space) between you and the trigger whether it be a person or situation. I’ve been working on one situation for 2.5 years. Nearly put me in the loony bin and I tried many different ‘tools’ over this time. Nothing worked. It seems the mind can’t hold on to something forever. Eventually it lets go. Patience is key. The problem for me is that this situation consumed my mind so much that my world around me has changed and transformed to fit the obsessive thinking. Thinking creates my world. This can be a problem!! Hmm…. So, I don’t know when ‘it’ will stop. I guess that’s up to you and me.
Meditation, gratitude, mindfulness, these are the tools, deep breathing, self love, etc. But anxiety and manic thoughts keep coming back. It’s frustrating. It’s gotten easier with practice but I was hoping that practice of these methods would make me feel better all the time rather than mitigate the feeling.
