Yeah, I’m still waiting for “things to get better.” It’s been 3+ decades… -_-‘
People who say that in my experience just don’t want to be bothered. They want you to shut up so they’ll say some canned b.s. lines like above so they can talk about / do something else.
I HATE when idiot people say “everything happens for a reason.” That to me is one of the most horrible things to say. That means if you got raped or abused- it all happened for a reason? So all the people who got massacred in the movie theater shooting- they were all supposed to die? And they all died for a reason? All the people who died in Hurricane Katrina- so all the poor people were meant to drown and die? A girl hit by a drunk driver and dies- it “all happens for a reason” eh?
Totally agree on that one. It completely dismisses all the shit that’s happened to you or other people and the suffering. Like “everything happens for a reason” Oh, oh right! That makes it all better! So I shouldn’t be bothered then? Anyhow!! Yeah that gets on my tits.
When they ask me how I am but don’t really care what the answer is because they are just trying to be polite.
And people being too polite as some kind of addiction, but without really caring to see or notice you for who you are. like mediocres just accomplishing a job. (forced hellos with fake smiles, and those kind of efforts to show how well raised they were)
And psychologist’s comments about other patients they have as a way to show a point.
And people making fun of other people…
And people criticising an specific individual that didn’t actually do anything wrong.
(Didn’t know my list was this long)
Oh yeah – Forced hellos and fake smiles. Agree and agree.
“How are you today?” is a real Pet Peeve question for me. I no longer answer that question. Interestingly, most people don’t even notice that I’ve not responded.
Oh god that stupid question. NOBODY wants to know how you’re really doing. It IRKS me when they ask. It’s like people are conditioned to say stupid canned lines like that, and then they get all surprised when you actually answer that question!
People don’t ask me when I am getting married, as if the knew I am just never going to… its ackward that they don’t.
But I know that’s a terrible question
1) “You shouldn’t feel that way.” (Oh, well let me undo my feelings right away, to comply with your opinion!)
2) “Not a problem,” in response to “Thank you.” I know, I’m old fashioned, but wtf ever happened to a simple “you’re welcome”?
And those aren’t bad things but i just hate it when confident people tell non confident people to be positive or confident when it’s just NOT GONNA HAPPEN no matter how hard they try. Not their definition of it at least.
I am really late but this is my type of thread so here goes.
“Time will heal everything, or things will get better” – You can’t predict the future
“Everything happens for a reason”- You already stated why pretty much
“You are way better off then other people” -Yea there’s almost always someone better off then someone else. We are all depressed for different reasons, just because their is kids starving in Africa doesn’t make me feel better about myself, it will make me more thankful sure. But it doesn’t automatically exempt me from making me feel like shit
“Money can’t buy happiness” -Yes it can, the world revolves around money, money can’t prevent sadness but it definitely can buy happiness to an extent
“This isn’t about the money” -Self explanatory. You can’t deny that what you are doing isn’t for money whatsoever. This phrase is especially popular towards rich celebrities who already have made alot of money
And to end it off whenever someone cares too much and starts ranting about what other individuals do with their time. They aren’t harming anyone but you make it seem like their pursuit of happiness is wrong

When people say me to get married.
That shit used to annoy the crap outta me to no end in my 20s.

“just stay positive!” “smile!” and “whats wrong?” get on my nerves most I’d say

everything .
I dont like it when religious people try to talk their religious stuff to me…. like tell me I am doing wrong according to their religion.
“Look at the bright side” and “Your cup is half full, not half empty.”
Maybe I should start replying by saying “come to the dark side”.
Yeah, I HATE that line too.
Person: “Look on the bright side”
Me: “Can I smack you?”
In a minute…

It’ll all be fake smiles in my office tomorrow… I’d like some honesty once in a while
that sounds like the best Saturday Night Live skit ever.
Just be a fly on the wall, you’ll get a few laughs and cringes as I try to engage in shallow conversation!
“sorry I have a boy friend(I’m not interested in you)
“I’m too bussy(I don’t want to hang out with you your just not cool enough)
“When are you getting married”
“can you do me a favor, can you lend me $80”
That is an oddly specific amount of money.
Oddly and most commonly amount asked for. seriously it’s drives me nuts.
Must be because it is in 20’s from a cash station.

2) hm, never thought about it like that. interesting…
Be confident
Be positive
Um what else
But it’s all good i cut the people out of my life who said bullshit like that anyway
And those aren’t bad things but i just hate it when confident people tell non confident people to be positive or confident when it’s just NOT GONNA HAPPEN no matter how hard they try. Not their definition of it at least.
“Don’t worry, there’s someone for everyone!”
“Why don’t you simply smile more?”
“Things will get better!”
“Cheer up!”
“Didn’t you do ANYTHING today?”
“There are plenty of fish in the sea!”
“Don’t worry!”
“I think you need to be more positive!”
What if we’re allergic to fish? 😛
I’m also hoping there’s a special place in hell reserved for people who say “Turn that frown upside down!”
😮
lol do a lot of ppl still say that? it’s so cheesy, nevermind the annoying part.
