@luke: you know it’s perfectly okay to just remove all the mirrors. In my minds eye my hair is always spectacular, even though I have absolutely the worst hair possible. Like baby bird hear but less body. But in my mind’s eye? It is a glorious lion mane.
For me I realized my body is not myself. It is a part of me yes, but my body is not the conscious self that I am. I am located somewhere in my brain. When you think about it a body is just a giant robot controlled by little organisms and I happen to be the captain. (sorry I’m a geek lol)
Which is why I like the internet.. At least I think this medium brings out who we truly are. We don’t have to rely on our eyes to see who is here, we can represent who we want to be IRL but either can’t or won’t be.
