These are the lyrics from a song by Lostprophets called “Dirty Little Heart”. Lostprophets were one of the biggest bands in the UK until their lead singer did some horrible things and was sent to prison for 30 years. Shame that, because they were truly awesome.
If I was clever enough to write poetry about my relationship with The One, I couldn’t have done any better. Things are pretty hopeless where we’re concerned, but I will continue to hope until my last breath.
Another night, another year that’s gone
Raise your glass, I’m not home tonight
Nothing’s changed, but everything is different
Getting cold in the bus stop light
All the days, all the times we spent
Making plans for another for another life
Staring out of a back seat window
Making cuts with a plastic knife
Another flight, still I don’t belong
An empty glass, still not home tonight
I look for change but only find a difference
I’m growing old in the glare of a spotlight
All those nights, all these hearts I’ve haunted
All the memories we shared
I wonder if this will ever be different
I wonder if we will ever be spared
But this dirty little heart
Still longs to beat
Back in your arms
Back on your street
These open wounds you gave me
These broken bones will take me
Crawling on through the debris
Of my dirty little heart
K
PS Can someone let me know the best way to add music (video or audio only) into my posts? I’ve tried to do it a couple of times, but just get an error message saying that file size is too large. Thanks.
