Well I think this is true and we need a reminder because we think too much and beat ourselves up all the time. Forgive yourself. Stop punishing yourself over the past or over what you think you’ve done wrong.
I’ve never quite understood this type of post. There is something to be said for holding on to a degree of realism. Part of that something, I think, is respect. I respect someone who can acknowledge their own flaws. It’s the first step toward improvement. I heard a song on the radio the other day that said something along the lines of “you don’t have to change a thing, the world should change instead”. This is, at best, false and unrealistic. At worst, contemptible for demoting the value of, and the need for, self-improvement. I understand this type of sentiment comes from a desire to help, but blind lies and distortions of the truth are not the way to do it. The gesture is admirable. The method, however, is somewhat dishonest and unrealistic.
