I tried to hang myself 3 times last week. I did the partial suspension (like Robin Williams et al) my natural instinct kicked in and I untied it and got air. My face broke out in a red rash. I feel pathetic for failing. How do all those people including quite small and genteel women, do it?
Is it just luck that sometimes you pass out before the fight for air kicks in?

I would guess you need to accept a few seconds of pain
I never got hanging to work for me. I tried the partial suspension, but my body has a strong survival mechanism. I didn’t have the commitment to try a full suspension or drop hanging.
I talked to someone who successfully blacked out from hanging. The only reason he is alive is because the bar he tied the rope to broke. I don’t know why it doesn’t work for some people.
I wonder if it about “luck”… a certain point on the neck that needs to be pressed for quick passing out? Also, maybe some that do it are weak from not eating due to their depression and can’t put up a struggle.
This is old, are you there?
