If you could somehow look into a magic crystal ball and know exactly what date you will die (and how), would you want to know?
Pros:
Know for certain
You can prepare
Blow all your money and do all the crazy shit you wanna do before that date
Get a revere mortgage and never pay it back! 😛
Cons:
The stress (or dread) of knowing
P.S. There’s a website called deathclock that will ‘predict’ (or approximate) your date of demise.
http://deathclock.com/
It even has pessimist, optimist, and sadistic as options
My death clock says I will die 38 years earlier as a pessimist than if I were ‘optimistic’. Great. -_-‘

I would want to know so I can prepare and have all the fun (and debauchery) before my demise. My pros are listed above in the post.
This question reminds me of the X-Files episode Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose, in which the main character could predict when and how a person was going to die. When Scully finally agreed to let him tell her how she would die he replied, “You don’t”.
I wouldn’t want to know.
Well “how” is a lot more morbid and descriptive than “when.” I imagine most people wouldn’t want to imagine or know exactly “how” they die (maybe I need to mod my post to disclude “how”), but knowing when was the real question I wanted to know if people wanted to know.
Mmm, x-files, I used to watch it back when they had the original cast. Are the newer episodes/seasons with the new cast worth watching? Are they as good or no?
The feature the original cast. Overall, it wasn’t as good because they tried to cram way too much – detail, time span, drama, nostalgia – into a mini-series. There were a couple of good episodes, though, and one epic scene where Mulder gets high. Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster was my favorite.
Got any other sci-fi flix you’d recommend? All the series I used to watch ended. :/
I watch all reruns too.
Not needed. I’m already dead.
Many times over.
I think I would want to know when….and get right to that bucket list. Don’t think I want to know how though like say it was a car accident at age 53. As soon as I turned 53 I’d be thinking every time I got in a car, “is this it?” It’d drive me crazy.
Yeah, same here
I checked that death clock site…says Nov 14, 2054 So that means age79…38 more years, but I have a feeling the world will end way before then the way we’re going.
The above was a normal mode as a pessimistic mode 2036 ha! 20 years left!
Perhaps global warming will have the oceans drown us all in 20 years… o_O
Yeah, it was quite surprising just how many years they lopped off just for being pessimistic
An old gypsy fortune teller already predicted when and how I would die, and told me I was cursed. The second part seems true, so I assume the first is as well.
And what did she tell you about your death?
:/
Nope I wouldn’t want to know, that would fuck up my plans!! I’d have to make changes!! I’d rather it be a surprise! And go OH SHIT!!
Lol “I’d have to make changes!” Too funny.
What if it was like the movie Final Destinstion and you knew you were next and there was a clue of how in a photograph? Would you want to see the the photo? I would.
