Do you feel like this:

What would you give in exchange for happiness? Your soul? Your voice? An arm, a leg?
I suppose I’d give up my “soul” for eternal happiness and immortality (provided immortality also means not being sick/ill). I suppose I won’t need a soul if I don’t die…

I guess my voice would be pretty cool in exchange of living the life I want, being free and having a real purpose.
I’m curious, do you mean eternal happiness as in “the world can do whatever it wants I don’t give a crap” or “everything I do goes well and makes me happy”?
I didn’t specify, but I suppose the 2nd one sounds better 😛
the human construct of seeking “eternal happiness” will only lessen the time spent in the emotion state of happiness.
Comparing our perception of what it entails with how we perceive other’s emotional wellbeing will produce a similar result.
It’s normal to experience all emotions at some point in our lives. It’s only when sadness is more than a short term response to environment and truly and unequivocally impedes one’s ability to get through the day that it’s seen as not normal.
