Was told by family member that if my pain was too great, saint-peter at the pearly gates would take great care of me. Not even as a joke. Eh, I don’t talk to that person anymore.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten is “ignore it and it’ll go away.”
Ignoring the problem has never made it go away. Not with bullies, not with family stuff, not with psychosis, and certainly not with depression and suicidal thoughts.
Not to mention the fact that I was taught to apply this advice to physical problems, too, which is what almost killed me last year. If it had killed me, I’d be in Hell right now, so yeah, that would make it the worst advice I’ve ever been given.
