-Depression
Have you thought about (talking to someone / seeing a dr / going for a walk / just thinking happy)?
Noooooooo, never tried to talk to anyone about it
Never tried going to a dr
Never tried to go for a walk
Never tried to just “think happy”
Never tried to just “snap out of it”
How can anyone EVER be depressed with such easy solutions out there??
-I have chronic health issues I’ve been battling for 15 years.
Have you thought about going to a dr?
Noooooo, I’ve NEVER thought of that!!!
-I’m an insomniac. I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Haven’t been able to sleep for 9 years.
Have you tried sleeping meds?
Nooooo, I never thought of that!!
-I have chronic fatigue. I’m always tired.
Drink some energy drinks.
OMG, all I need are energy drinks. Totally solves my health problem!!
-I have problems walking. I have problems with my foot / knee.
Have you just tried walking?
Walk to the park.
I literally get the above answers/questions/suggestions. Like no, I’ve never tried all the obvious things.
I get this from people here too. Not to pick on anyone on this site (some are well meaning) but geez, why do people ask the most obvious questions? Or give the most obvious suggestions? Like someone who’s been dealing with sleep issues NEVER thought of trying something? Or someone who chronic health issues has NEVER thought to go to a dr and find out what it is that’s wrong with them. Someone with foot issues have NEVER thought to go to a foot dr. I mean, really, I don’t have a brain.

…plus: ” it is all in your mind.” well yes but I’m in here too and it is getting crowded and the curtains are drawn and it’s hard to see out!
True words
Well I was just trying to help. I thought maybe there are some sleeping meds other people or me have tried and you haven’t tried yet
Have you tried sleeping aide chimpanzees? They’re like trunk monkeys, but for bedtime.
There’s a whole clan of people who are completely against doctors and medication (they know that is the worst possible thing for a person’s mental health.)
Saint John’s Wort ( 3 capsules standardized to 0.3% ) added to Melatonin ( take 3 tabs 3mg sustained release–but I chew 1 tablet up) added to 75mg Trazodone ( need a prescription for this). This knocks me out every night!! Try it.
I struggle with an eating disorder and I get a lot of, “Why don’t you just eat?” Like??? Because I have??? An eating disorder???? Or my personal favorite, my psychiatrist gave me an assignment to make like, a pinterest board of all the “voluptuous” women I find attractive. A) I literally have no problem with how other people look and seeing pretty women with my body type does nothing for me because eating disorders don’t work like that??? I’m not motivated by “the pressure put on me by society” thanks and B) Her example was the actress Eva Mendes, who, for the record, looks like a supermodel. Thanks Kani, for all the great psychiatric work you do, I really am feeling the effects.
