I agree too. I’ve always longed to belong, to have a gang that I can fall back on. But all my life I have felt like an outsider, separated from the great masses of humanity, alone in the cold.
Maybe there’s something in the personalities of people prone to depression. Something that doesn’t quite jive with whatever normal is.
All I want is to feel like I am part of a group, that easy feeling of knowing your place and your role. To be vital to a community, that your presence is necessary. I have never felt that, but I have longed for it all my life. To be indispensable.
I feel this way too. I think belonging and having a tribe means knowing you are valued. You have a place. Your contributions matter. But when you don’t matter at work, in your family, if you’re always not quite right or you do everything wrong. Just that constant awareness of not being good enough. Or just good.
Me too. But I think it’s because so often people take it out of me or I feel that sense of being not right in it. Do you think belonging gives you something to tether you, in some sense, or just makes it worse nearly all the time?
Cats are in prides. Isn’t that technically “mob mentality”? Big cats as in lions. Domesticated cats, though, might get all confused once their human slaves, err, I masters, stop placing food under their noses every day.
i don’t see anything wrong with domesticated felines. i wonder why and how dogs and cats became such common domesticated creatures. when will monkeys, pigs, and other animals become common? why aren’t they? just a thought.

Maybe this is a tribe or could be?
I like to be alone 🙂

Tribe of Tiger? I wouldn’t mind that so much. Cats don’t really seem affected by mob mentality.
