This is a sidenote, and I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with the quote. But Marcus Aurelius’s son, to whom he imparted all his wisdom, became an egomaniac who brought down the entire Roman empire. Isn’t that interesting? It kind of makes me feel like the deeper we think, the more twisted we become, and the more damage we leave in our tracks.

well duh. that’s exactly the point suicide attempts to solve: a useless man who will never live a life worth a damn
