Sorry it’s kinda random but music really helps me alot. I never used to listen to music but I finally started listening to music a couple years ago.
My top artists right now are Billie Eilish and Gnash, and I just love them because they aren’t afraid to talk about dark stuff sometimes and their music is so soothing to me. Like I can just sit back and close my eyes and it helps me feel just a little better. If you haven’t listened to them maybe try it, but don’t let one song end it for you try more than one.
What kind of music do you like? I’m interested to see if it all seems similar or all different.

Theory of a deadman (they mostly sing about how the world is destroying itself) and skillet (they sing about depression)
I’ll give them a listen
Blow by theory of a dead man and last night skillet are both good
i liked the last night even though its not really my type it was still good 🙂
Skillet has a bunch of songs like that. Its kinda sad happy.
I’ve heard skillet comatose.. like that one
I only listen to instrumental music, mostly piano, unfortunately. Which most people say puts them to sleep… But the piano music I listen to is kind of emotional abstract piano music. It’s super weird the first few times you listen to it, but after a bit, you start to like, notice the story more and it’s kind of crazy awesome and I really love it. It’s jibberish to most people, but it’s a gorgeous dynamic painting to others. Almost like a secret language. I probably sound crazy right now.. my favorite pianist is Giovanni allevi and I love his pieces ciprea, scherzo no1, monolocale 7:30 am, L’avversario, clavifusion, Stella…. well you get it. You’re probably not interested but hey, you asked 😛
Another good song is deadmans gun. No idea who sings it it was in red dead redemption. My friend showed it too me. Heads up it made me cry.
Omg I love red dead redemption music 🙂 and Far away by Jose Gonzalez (when he arrives in mexico). Other game music can be amazing too like Last of Us and Detroit become human… well just loads tbh. Dan romer did some good pieces for Farcry 5… ect ect
I listen to a lot of stuff: jazz, rock, soul, funk, electronic, experimental/avant-garde, classical (maybe it would be more properly to call it ”symphonic music” or ”music for symphony orchestra”), latin (or as we call it here: ”Spanish”), reggae, metal, some pop, ambient, blues, folk music from around the world, and much much more. It depends to what kind of mood I’m in…
Given the opportunity, I want to write more about classical music (because I guess that no one else will). There are many depressive, gloomy compositions (most of Gustav Mahler’s work, Mozart’s ”Requiem” or at least its first 5 minutes, etc), but one who’s worth mentioning is Richard Wagner.
I prefer to listen to Wagner’s music without any words or without paying any attention to the plot of his musical dramas, because of his controversial opinions on many matters. But the music itself (which was heavily influenced by Schopenhauer’s pessimism) is just brilliant… Pessimism and depression at their purest…
Wagner puts you in a state of agony, anxiety, stress, tension, uneasiness, sorrow, agitation, that goes on and on and on and on, and you’re longing for a redemption, for some kind of catharsis, for some kind of relief, but it never comes… Or comes too late… And when it comes, it lasts for a brief moment, and then you’re back to agony and distress… I can’t think of a better musical representation of life…
Of course, most people know his ”Ride of the Valkyries”, but I think the composition that represents what I’m writing about is ”Faust” (which is based on Goethe’s poem with the same name). Here’s some information about it:
