Disclaimer: if you are involved in “suicide prevention” marches, speeches, pep rallies or ice cream socials, please skip this post as it will certainly offend.
Another “suicide prevention” spectacle was held, and this one caught my attention because people were supposed to wear beads to represent their suicidal experience. Red = loss of a spouse or partner, white = loss of a child, and green = personal struggle or attempt at suicide.
How about I wear yellow beads to represent the bile welling up in my throat every time I think of all the self-righteous people who raise money, sell t-shirts, do tv interviews and feed this big industry called “suicide prevention” when neither I nor any suicidal person I’ve known (successful and not) has ever been helped by any ridiculous march supposedly for my benefit.
“Suicide prevention” events are exactly the same as funerals. They don’t benefit the actual victim in any way. It’s just an excuse for everyone else to pat each other on the back and say “we’re doing something good!” even though nothing changes the fact that there’s another corpse going into the ground.
Once, just once, I would like to see a “suicide prevention” group offer some tangible help, not just empty words, billboards and tv ads to call a useless phone line. Like, wouldn’t it be so much more helpful if these groups offered financial assistance to people on the verge of suicide because they’ve lost their home? Wouldn’t it be more helpful for these groups to run a shelter for kids who are running away from abusive homes? Even medical assistance for women who have been raped. These are tangible things to help reduce suicide. But t-shirts and beads? No thanks. I don’t want a funeral and I don’t want a bunch of people saying they’re fighting for me when they don’t even know my name.

color-coded….jesus…what is happening out there? seriously? cold coded?
I could need a hard-coded day of death. It could also be cold-coded as it is better when respiration shall decay slowly.. I’m in melancholy for still being alive..
spelling error…i meant “color-coded”
They didn’t even choose decent colors -_-
I agree with every point you’ve made on this post, we need some proper suicide prevention out there instead of this little “publicity stunt”. During that time they’re busy doing that march, others are busy taking their lives.
I agree with you 100%.
Also, let’s stop putting suicidal people in psych wards and medicating them against their will.. Oh and then sending them a big bill for it. This does NOT encourage people to open up about their suicidal feelings.
We definitely need actual suicide prevention… Not the useless, ineffective crap that we have now.
The giant life-ending bill certainly does help with the suicidal feelings…. Just not in the way of prevention.
That cracked me up. As someone who has gotten one of those infamous bills for involuntary lockup, I gotta say it sure does “help” suicidal feelings.
No, because it is generating money to have us on our cost rid for future generations from the DNA. This Way we have it harder to reproduce ourselves genetically.
But are they high-quality beads?
That’s just fucking great. Just like doing the lines on your wrist in marker in February for suicide awareness… makes every suicidal person think “wow, these lame fucking politicians really must pay for great acting lessons” oh, wait, I meant ‘they must give a shit to toss marker on for a day a year’.. but then spit in our faces the other 364.
*pat backs all around* good for you taking political interest in the world.. kudos fuckwads. Now, back to co-ed psych awards where a homicidal rapist is your bedside neighbour in a secluded ward.
Noone actually does anything to help mental illness..
All a facade
So true..
They just build their image.. just for that..
We all know.. but we still go.. and dissapointed
SJWs can suck my _____.
