This post is about soda- yes, the soda you buy at stores.
So I was at the store yesterday, and I never buy soda (haven’t bought ACTUAL soda in YEARS) but they had a sale on soda- and I bought the 0 sugar 0 caffeine Ginger Ale. It’s pretty much the only mainstream soda I would buy as soda is obviously bad for you. But even 0 sugar 0 caffeine 0 HFCS is still bad and addictive.
IDK what’s in this bottle that’s addictive bc it’s usually the sugar, caffeine and HFCS, but it’s still addictive bc I drank like half the 2L bottle already and I’ve only had it for like 8 waking hours. And my thought was- oh I need to buy more O_o.
Except the sale ended yesterday and I do not want to buy it at full price- like WHEN the hell did cheap ass unhealthy soda become so damn expensive? Didn’t they used to be like 99c at all the stores for like decades? They’re all $2.79 now, which is fucking insane for SODA. Unhealthy junky soda. And forget about buying the healthy drinks- they’re like $8-$12 where I am for a tiny bottle of something green or probiotic or natural. And even then, most still have too much sugar.
Anyhow, despite knowing soda is bad and expensive as hell now, I still want to buy that stupid “ginger ale” (it contains <2% actual ginger extract so it isn't even real ginger ale).
That's how they get you- always start with a sale lol O_o

OH- and I bought junky chips too -_-
Though junky chips I buy way more often than I should. Double -_-
OH- and I bought these mini ice cream puffs which I never buy bc they’re expensive, but was on sale.
Yeah I know -_-
When you feel so shitty about life that the only thing that makes it better temporarily is junky food…though you know junky food in the long run is just bad for you.

The fizzy stuff can be somewhat addictive…I find I crave Pepsi if I haven’t had it in a long time.
But as they say the key is everything in moderation. I try to cut back as much as I can since it isn’t healthy. Excess sugar is bad for us, the acid rots the teeth and so on.
I choose the name ‘club soda’ since it sounds nice, but I’m not a fan of sugarless soda. 🙂
i rarely ever drink soda- sugary or sugar free. my only exception is this fake “ginger ale.” plus the drinks i had over the summer which were expensive as heck. they had carbonation like soda, but it wasn’t soda- more like flavored water. idk how ppl drink regular soda- don’t they have like 40g of sugar or smtg? that’s an insane amount to consume in one shot. every now and then isn’t bad but regularly? yeesh.
i hope the sugar free version isn’t toxic but i have a feeling it also is. aspartame…
nah, for me, if i had to cheat and consume sugar, i’d rather cheat on ice cream and cakes 😛 but that’s me. speaking of which…kinda craving some right now. these little ice cream puffs have 1g sugar each piece. and each piece is bite-size. so…the sugar adds up. they were, however, much less in sugar per serving than most any other ice cream at the store though…
well shit, i forgot about the acid even in the sugar free. i forgot to drink through a straw. doh!
Same here I totally avoid synthetic sugars…I’ve heard aspertame can cause brain damage.
Ya they say it’s better to cheat with richer desserts so you satisfy your craving instead of cheapie ones which give you excess calories.
I’ve found so long as I exercise I can eat anything and actually it makes you want to eat healthier so you don’t give back your gains.
Yes drinking with a straw is better for your teeth…my dentist friend also said to drink a sip of water after a soda drink to reduce the acidity.
right, i knew at the time i shouldn’t have even bought it in the first place. ashamed to admit, i actually bought 4 bottles as it was 4 for $5, but only 1 ginger ale since they were all out of it. bought 1 cherry ginger ale, one 7up, and 1 cherry 7up. i should probably give away the 7ups. damn sale >.<
Lol, that’s ok, you made a wise purchase decision, better to buy on sale, you’ll eventually finish it…I do the same…I buy those 6 pack bottles, they last me a long time because I barely drink them. 🙂
those little ones? i bought 4 of the big ones >.<
but yeah, it's literally been over a decade since i bought soda. usually only drink it at parties or it comes free with my meal. which is how i found out i like the “ginger ale.” A can came free with my meal- and cost the same if you decline the soda.
I’d say medium sized the 710ml’s. Ya they charge you anyways for the drink…so you’re kind of stuck even if you didn’t want it.
I swap it for a juice instead…I also find I get heartburn if I drink too much pop.
I used to drink a lot of soda, lately it’s getting rarer, maybe once or twice a week. One of those two times is going to an actual soda shop with my friends. I don’t think I have it in me to turn away one of the sodas from that place, at least at my current rate of consuming them weekly.
but every day? nah. I have better sources of sugar. Did you know liquid sugar is the worst for dieting? It’s as bad as alcohol for the waistline.
Still the worst thing I drink has to be the occasional energy drink. But I have nearly no beef with caffeine, though I can’t tolerate as much as I used to.
I do have a beef with most sugar substitutes. They don’t taste right to me.
+1
i don’t drink soda every day. i only drink soda like 1-2x a year usually. but yeah, this time i overdid it by buying 4 big bottles of it cuz it was on sale. i’m the opposite of you- i don’t consume alcohol, caffeine, soda, hell, i don’t even like to take a tylenol.
