Anyone else think the best way to commit suicide would be to just lie down on the train tracks and let a train hit you at full speed? I’ve thought about overdosing and also slitting my throat but I think there is a better chance I would end up in a wheelchair rather than actually being dead if I did one of those two things. I also think it would be easier on my family if I went out on the train tracks because they wouldn’t be the first ones to find me when I’m dead and it would most likely be the train driver or paramedics where if I overdosed it would be a family member that finds me. I also think there is a much greater chance of death if I were to lie on the tracks and let a fast train run me over. Has anyone else thought of this method and if so would you think it works?

I have no idea how I’d go about finding when a train would be at a certain spot, but even if I did it’d be a five mile trip minimum to get to tracks. Here, where I live, there are only freight trains, technically there is one passenger rail in the state, over 120 miles away.
Then there’s the safety issue. Again only based on what I know about local trains, most of them are understaffed, and missing multiple safety safeguards. So putting anything on the track makes it much more likely to derail. At the very least there’s a delay, and who has to clean up? the poor railway workers, who have it hard enough.
Also I don’t think our trains are fast enough for that. Usually they are either braking coming into town or building up speed going out when they’re closest to me. 25-35 mph, roughly 40-56 kph
so I wouldn’t go that route, personally
Have you done any research on train suicides? There is no “best way” to commit suic.ide. All ways have pitfalls and high failure rate, and potential for life long injuries.
Did a brief search- and saw it roughly 10-33% failure rate worldwide according to wikipedia. Yes that’s just according to wiki but a quick search yielded no hard data other than that one. I would find the stats in your home country, though oftentimes the stats just aren’t there for us to see.
Do you really want a 1/3 chance of being alive and crippled? Sure, you can take that chance if you want. Just sayin’- do your research and find the odds of surviving and long term damage you’d sustain if you survive.
Don’t forget you’ll also traumatize the train driver-maybe risk derailment….choose a way which doesn’t involve harming or upsetting anyone else or leaving a nasty mess for someone else to clean up.
All methods have their risks, some are more reliable than others. I personally will go with inert gas, though we have MAiD here in Canada, and it’s been getting easier to get approved from what I’ve seen…thousands of Canadians have used it to pass away…so I think I’ll take this path when I’m really done with life.
If there isn’t such a thing where you live…I’d recommend doing a lot of research first. I guess if one wanted a sure-fire way, one can’t go wrong with drowning and tying a heavy rock to one’s foot and jumping in a deep enough lake. It won’t be painless, there will be some suffering but arguably it’s quick and easy…if I was desperate and panicking and needed to go fast…this could work.
Maybe people have been OD’ing (dying) on Fen and other opiates, which should be totally painless and pretty much guaranteed from what I’ve read.
