Wow
The thing about the whole disconnect from nature is that it is willing and intentional and that’s what I never understood, well, I do, but I rebel against it.
I pass by houses on my street and they’ve cut down a lot of the giant trees that were here when I bought the house, not me, and I won’t willingly….. kind of why I’m moving to a forest, no one makes you cut down trees in a forest. Why does it happen though? Insurance, fires, windstorms…. people don’t want to do tree work themselves, or cut up fallen limbs….. and so the low effort thing is to not have trees.
The same thing goes for every single lawn plant, so what you’ll see the busier a family is less and less plants in the yard. A full yard is a sign of someone with free time. My yard, full of decorative foliage looks like someone retired lives here…. which isn’t untrue.
It isn’t like I have a healthy career.
I’m skeptical of the sitting thing, it’s like the smoking thing, it was supposed to shorten my life, when am I going to see results eh?! I guess I didn’t get awful enough chairs……
Also where I live, unpleasant as it is, we have really nice public parks….. So public spaces exist. The issue I have is that I’m not exceptionally interested in the people in them.
Here’s an issue that I don’t see discussed enough; there used to be more games made for single player, better for contemplation and self discovery, and now they make more for multiplayer, but if you are more of a single player type you’re left out of the market.
Anyway, some good points, but as always I have to find fault, it’s who I am.
Public spaces might still exist in OK, but where I am at, there is none. It’s pretty much gone non-existent in large cities across the US.
Well- murphy’s law isn’t it? It’s like this- you want to die, this universe won’t let you. My sister smokes half a pack of cigarettes every single day for the past 40 years. She has no breathing issues. But guess who does? ME. I have NEVER smoked a day in my life- yet *I* am the one who has asthma and COPD. Yet again, Life never fails to fuck me over.
I can corroborate the tree cutting phenomenon. In the last 5 years I’ve seen at least 2 dozen ancient trees fall to the chainsaw, making this shit neighborhood worse than ever: a shit neighborhood with no shade or oxygen. But shortsighted people prioritize every millimeter of real estate over common sense and health. By cutting down a 50 year old oak, they suddenly have 100 sq feet where they can stick a trampoline. (For real thats exactly what they did)
It’s definitely a willing, intentional idiocy. The problem is when you cut down a tree it affects the entire ecosystem in the vicinity. The dumbass across the street chopped down a dozen huge trees lining the street (so they can stare at cars?) and almost immediately I felt a palpable increase in the suffocation factor. Whether it’s a decrease in oxygen or the increase in heat, or the sudden vanishing of all the birds whose singing made this place tolerable, or just the removal of the color green from the landscape, they’re ruining it for everyone. To say nothing about the trees who had been there long before the current homeowners.
Humans have brought this on themselves, and by association they’ve brought it on me.
There’s too many idiots breeding more idiots into the world. Not just overpopulation but it’s the dumbasses that tend to have the most kids. THAT is a MAIN problem. If not for that shit, we’d literally have 75% less problems in this world.
I don’t care for most liberals either BUT in the area of popping out spawns of kids, the conservatives think there’s “depopulation” going on and are literally TRYING to have as much kids as possible. Effing Stupidity.
Yup if I could fix 1 problem with the human race it would be to make humans stop popping out babies. Overpopulation is the root of all the other problems: poverty, crime, wars, disease, environmental destruction, mob mentalities and overall dumbassery. All of it culminates at the top with politicians obsessed with manipulating the dumbass herd rather than fixing anything.
The world’s population was around 4 billion in 1975 and it has fucking DOUBLED in only 50 years. And absolutely yes we have no one but dipshit right wing governments to blame. More babies more babies and be sure to register them as republicans at birth so they too will beat the drum for more babies.
“Overpopulation is the root of all the other problems”
–Exactly. Except dumbasses keep procreating. -_-
