I figure everybody has a comfort food movie or couple of movies, so that’s why I ask the question.
Right now I’m watching Pet Semetary, which is one of mine because it has that beautiful contrast of that lifestyle I want to live in the country but it also deals with mortality, death and the lack of control we all have. Well I’m actually watching Pet Semetary Bloodlines first to see if it gets better on re viewing.
I’m fascinated by the use of the legend of the Wendigo by this film series, same goes for the use in Until Dawn.
Another comfort food film is Dark Night of the Scarecrow a classic rural horror movie with Charles Durning as the villain. It has a strong sense of justice which is something I need when things are dark like they have been recently.

‘Withnail and I’ for me is the most watchable, I’ve watched it repeatedly and never tired of it, that would fall into the category of ‘ cheering one up’. Didn’t care for the ‘Pet Semetary’ movie, big fan of the novel, King’s finest hour IMO. I know Charles Durning from ‘ The Sting’ dunno the movie you reference.
I like Divergent cause I feel like I was born like a divergent and different. I question everything. I never went along with the crowd. I was a heavy metal guitarists in my younger days and people treated me like a god but I really didn’t like it much. It got old really quick. I also like the Breakfast club because it shows we all have many different sides to us.
Beauty and the Beast is a big comfort film for me (both the cartoon and the one with Emma Watson) but I also really like The Westside Story and Revenge of the Sith
Beauty & the Beast is a great pick. I haven’t seen the Emma Watson one, but the cartoon is infectiously uplifting. If you’re up for old b&w French flicks, there’s a 1946 version that’s really good.
My go-to is Amélie. If that movie doesn’t make you feel better then you have no soul. jk but everyone should see it. It’s about a girl whose life is a fucking disaster, she’s hopelessly alone and riddled with psychological issues, so she abandons hopes in herself and instead creates elaborate crazy ways of making other people’s lives better.
Correct the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with Emma Watson is good. There was a french version from the 40’s which was also good, the first version if I recall correctly.
