I was reversing out of my mother’s driveway. There was a guy walking by who seemed to be in another world, unaware of the car. I hit the brakes just in time. He lost his footing and stumbled over into a grass patch. ” Here what happened mate?” I said getting out of the car. ” My mistake, I didn’t see you” he said. ” No problem, there’s your phone ” I said pointing to his phone which was on the ground. ” Fuck, thanks mate ” he said picking up the phone. ” You all right man?”I said. ” Sorry man I’m stoned” he said ” no worries I like it myself, take it easy” I said starting up the car again. ” thanks for the phone'” he said . Nice guy, but there can come a stage in life when you are’ too far gone’.

I’ve never had any before. I’ve been drunk, but that’s the only type of intoxicated I’ve been. Wonder if it’s worth having some.
That story triggered a repressed memory which I should probably resume repressing. I was in that guy’s shoes once. Probably during my alcoholic years when I lost large chunks of memory and stumbled through death situations unawares. Too far gone isn’t as far as we think.
