One of the songs from this album popped into my head earlier, I hadn’t listened to it in years but it’s very good – the whole album is…not sure if it will cheer you up, but it might put you in a different head space.
I said something so funny it made someone piss their pants today..we need to find joy in the little things. I pray you find happiness,. Make someone miss their pants!!!
I discovered a truly strange christmas movie, I don’t know if that’s the sort of thing to cheer you up, but it’s an Italian movie from the 60s called The Christmas that Almost Wasn’t https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc1EBeXCNvY
I wouldn’t have come across it if it weren’t for Mystery Science Theater 3000, but the full cut is even better or weirder, there are a few more songs, the plot makes more sense with more context. It turns out that the guy that plays the lawyer is actually the writer of the whole thing, and the guy playing the bad guy directed the thing.
So then I tried to get my hands on it and found out it couldn’t be bought except on dvd for more than I had, and to watch it most services required ads, so once I found this copy I pirated it because archive everything damn it, we have no idea when the end of all media is coming.
more that I don’t know if anyone else is doing enough work on archiving, and the day may someday come that old movies like this are lost forever because you absolutely cannot trust companies with the future of our cultural legacy.
I have this weird librarian impulse to preserve everything. Some preppers gather guns and canned goods, because they think that the threat is from some bio agent or other disaster that will attack people.
The thing is, people are like cockroaches, we’ll survive regardless, and I’m not worried about people. I’m worried that someday in 100 years or so some curious young person will read about ancient media and suddenly discover that a stupid company managed to delete EVERYTHING. That’s a real possibility, the streaming companies have no interest at all in keeping everything available to people, and physical media is dying. A movie like this, it could be gone in an instant.
I’m playing this game, Far Cry 5 and it involves a lot of prepper stashes and I imagine my media library would be the media stash to end all media stashes. Holy crap, some lucky future survivor is going to be happy someone had some forsight, I hope.

what do you mean “the end of all media is coming?” you mean everything will be behind a paywall and that free copies will no longer exist?
