I can relate to this. I’ve had days where things have been OK, then all of a sudden the depression sets in and I can’t stop crying.

There is a well-used metaphor for depression called the Black Dog. I feel that this is actually a very good metaphor. Like any vicious animal, there are times when it just goes about minding its own business. However, when it gets into attack mode, it can be nasty … especially when you’ve lost all the tools you normally use to shoo it away.

Unless we can keep it muzzled, there is a real chance that everyone here could be mauled to death by their own Black Dog.
