Why do the people on the Suicide Prevention Hotline almost always seem like they want to get you off the phone? They seem to be just a referal service or it straight to telling you to go to the ER with no in between. Why wont they just TALK to you? It says on the web and recording it you are suicidal or in emotional distress or just need to talk. So why wont they let you talk? They say, Are you getting counselling? I can look up in your area. I say I am just calling to talk. One woman said in an angry voice, this is a CRISIS line. I said, yes, I am in a crisis and I want to talk. She said and others have said to me, What is it you want from me? What do you expect me to do? At which point at least they’ve made me so temporarily angry I’ve forgotten for a moment how distressed I am. And if I had wanted to dial 911 I would have done that, and not called the crisis talk line! okay, sorry, just had to get that out.

Yeah that happened to me several time too. It seeems that the people on these hotlines previously worked for call centres and such.So even if they are trained, they dont understand the emotions involved and therefore prefer to follow a script instead of trying to understand people.
This website instead is much more effective as the people commenting or talking know about what you are feeling.
So true Shigari. I’m so glad I found all of you here. Thanks. <3
