I often visit Silent Hill if I ever run out of ideas. Just seeing how fucked up my version of that freaky little shithole is does enough to inspire me to write something.
@rogue its not ideas im short on its the link between ideas thats getting to me
@Lorax lol, i know your avatar :-p and youve donw alot to me man, u keep making me laugh when im down 🙂
Create a flow like water, that moves both fast and slow, and yet is infinitely formless. Let the ideas become one with the other, until neither are distinguishable. Thus creating “an idea.”
Its no use man, i can see each part of the storie, i can see how one leads from the next but when it comes to getting it down the links shimmer and become smoke, evading the grasp of my mind, in going to have to wate a month or so at this rate. Ah id live a drink, i hade a crate that i got last Saturday for this Saturday but its gone since Wednesday. And ive no id to get more because i lost it a while back due to either tequila or pills in not sure
this one involves setting up a massive revolt, anarchy and tareing down the system leaving complete chaos behind, im about seven pages in, weirdly it stopped with 5555 words. and its just dealt with the first riot and some of the aftermath of that. its been a few month since i could write. The one before this got to about nine pages before a bout of depression ended it, it was to do with a man who made an… empire of criminality
Sounds awesome, man. So was it an insurrection within one country or a continental/global thing? The scale will affect how you can weave it all together. I’d done some anti-riot training in the military and…yeah we often didn’t understand the ethics behind our ROE. Sure, 12 gauge bean bag rounds and armoured vehicle barricades, riot helmets/shields and such. They were called SASO (security and stability operations) but what we couldn’t figure was what happens when it goes from civvies throwing rocks to lobbing grenades and small arms fire? It’d step up to a “low-intensity” conflict and ROE was return fire only and no greater than 3:1 odds in our favour before we “get the fuck outta Dodge.” Ahh shit sorry, I could go on all day. I guess there’s a side you could explore.
no man this is good. id currently only got the police in, tho not with any depth regarding their involvment but the army would be great for destabalizing the place, over use of force by any group in power, including the army woul possibly shift the public sympathie twards the rioters, tho it would have to be brutal, ive already got someone who can help with that part, tho i would have forgot to put in the non lethal weapons, theres an advanced arms company in the middle of this that would supply high tech versions of the bean bag shotgun and if the rioters stay without guns, or grenades does the lethal force still get autherised, exspecially if the rioters outnumber the army? ah man, your bringing back the lines man! i think i might get a few more pages done right now
Well look who it is, whats up rocketman? long time, all good with you? haha nah man dont touch the stuff, prefer to work soley on my liver thank you very much lol
Procel,
well you still have your since of humor 🙂 I lick it!!! 🙂 makes me happy! 🙂 and yeah everything is the same I still want to die. at least I’m consistent?
Weapons we used were the Benelli M3 shotgun, 40mm thunderflash from the M203 and CS gas grenades. In a contemporary scenario and a happy world, we would disengage the rioters and RV at a designated strongpoint which should have been forwarded to all units before any troops were deployed or more likely stage a hasty withdrawal and bug-out from the AO. The Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) stipulates a lot of what a uniformed soldier can do even in their own backyard. Put simply, if a non-uniformed civilian picks up any small arm and uses it against you, they are deemed hostile, but local Standing Orders may still mean you are NOT “cleared to engage.” I’m glad you’re getting some ideas from this, keep up the work!
In my country, the deployment of any military forces domestically must be authorised through the Governor-General (the Queen’s Representative), only then will manoeuvre and Reserve units be sent out to aid disaster relief, suppress insurrection and so on. In most cases the Military Police will handle it as they have the advanced training in civil unrest scenarios, but certain Infantry and Mounted units can also re-role and assist.
Your scenario about the Military being sympathetic towards the people is true. For me, I swore an oath to “serve my Queen and my Country”, not some stupid government that continues to screw up the military. So yeah.
@rocketman, haha at least im consistantly humourous too i suppose, what you need to do is kill hugh hefner, or wate for him to die, and apply for his job, thatll take care of wanting more things to exsperience in life 😉
@roguelonesome i must admit types of guns go over my head but it does sound impressive. so basically what your saying is, when youve hostile enemies, some wanker is tying you in nots with what you can and cannot do in return?
Hmmm, high ranking member of government needed to bring in the army, weirdly i had just introduced such a person. i think it will be necessary to bring huge completely unnecessary ammount of army personnel. I think originally the army is going to have to be against the rioters, you know they see a group of people fucking up the country they are trying do protect, but then they realise how evil the corporate system has become and side with bringing down the capatalist cunts, ah man i can see it now.
That’s essentially what happens. For example: Afghanistan, two types of our forces were there. The Team sent to rebuild a certain province and not directly engage in combat operations, and a Special Operations group that was sent to train and mentor Afghan forces, as well as assist security forces against insurgent attacks. The rebuild team upon making contact would need to radio Base and receive clearance from government before even aiming there weapons at the enemy. The Special Forces team however were more “kinetic” and could make decisions on the fly i.e advance to and engage the contact without needing to radio base.
Remember that not all military personnel will side with the people, as some are true “loyalists” even to those capitalist pigs.
Ive always held the view its better to ask forgivness than permission tho i guess diobeying orders wont work the same way. the burocracy, even in the army is sickening.
I argue that all members of the army would be completely loyal, the majority to the people they swore to protect, the others to the gorvenment, wchich is a puppet for corperations, all that differs is a mans personal point of view
I couldn’t agree more, sadly though many troops wouldn’t like to risk sparking an international incident or court martial because they let there feelings or POV on a situation get in the way. My friends who are still in the army, I’d say they would definitely side with the people. We’d often talked about the collapse of the government and the end times and so on, we established quite a plan to survive it all too.
At the end of the day, a soldier is a realist. There is only black and white. No grey. They taught us that from the very beginning.
Well id prefer to cause the international incident than go “oh, my boss says i cant shoot back, here let me grab than muzzle and stick it in my mout for ya” but would you side with the people who are trying to create chaos or the lay people? id love to be there when the system crashes and anarchy reigns, it would be so sweet to see the law go out the window.
black and white is the way to look at the world, keeps everything simple, something im terrible at doing lol
The political redtape is a killer, trust me. I am inclined to side with those who are fighting the system. I am no longer a serviceman but I still know how to “seek out and engage the enemy.” I still have my Kevlar vest and S10 respirator and some of my other combat kit, so I’m pretty much ready for when the system collapses. I actually can’t wait for that to happen, it’d give me a purpose again haha oh that sounded pathetic…
It’s funny because they always told us to “be the grey man.”

I know that feel all too well, man. What sort of story you writing?
